Great Bay Half Marathon & 5K routes

Start Line: 82 Main Street

Half Marathon - 13.1 miles

Starting on paved roads in Newmarket, the first few miles have some gentle hills. The terrain then changes to gravel and gets hillier, but there are some incredible views over fields and forests. You enter the stunning Great Bay Estuary at mile 5, where you return to paved roads along the coast. You might even catch sight of herons and bald eagles. You will be running on roads with live traffic, so please keep to the left. You will face some steep climbs and long, gentle downhills. The course flattens out around Moody Point (mile 9). You finish by heading back into Newmarket, passing different neighbourhoods and architectural styles.

You start on the same course as the half marathon for the first 2.5miles, where you will turn off right. You head up a steep hill, but are then rewarded with a downhill finish through downtown and passed the cheering crowds.

After Party: Schanda Park for Food. Riverworks restaurant and American Legion for beer.

April is typically Newmarket's wettest month, and conditions are likely to be quite cold, so please dress accordingly.

There will be thousands of people spectating this spring road race, and everyone is welcome to join in the after party. We recommend staying downtown for the start and finish, and it is not advised to try to drive along the route as you will hit runner traffic.
