Race in the third of this 3 race series around the Lake Balboa bike path at Woodley Park. This is a great local race for all types of runners to chase those PRs. Come for the goody bag, t-shirt and, if you complete all 3 races, an exclusive Series Finisher medal.

COURSE

Half Marathon

Start at Woodley park -1,  at the corner of Woodley Ave and Victory Blvd,  head west through the tunnel walkway, when you exit the tunnel take a right, then another right (yes a big U-turn) onto the main bike path that runs along Woodley Ave, follow the paved bike path up to the HALF MARATHON turn around sign (golf course parking lot) , turn around and head back up the bike path to the large fork in the road at the main dirt trail, turn left at the dirt trail that will lead you to the west side bike path that runs along Balboa Blvd, turn right and follow the bike path that runs along the perimeter of the park and that will lead you back to the tunnel walkway and to the Start/Finish line and start your second loop. Start of loop 2 is through the YELLOW chute.

10k Course

Start at Woodley park -1, head west through the tunnel walkway, when you exit the tunnel take a right, then another right (yes a big U-turn) onto the main bike path that runs along Woodley Ave, follow the paved bike path up to the 10K turn around sign (Burbank Blvd & Hayvenhurst Ave) , turn around and head back up the bike path to the large fork in the road at the main dirt trail, turn left at the dirt trail that will lead you to the west side bike path that runs along Balboa Blvd,  turn right and follow the bike path that runs along the perimeter of the park and that will lead you back to the tunnel walkway and to the Start/Finish line.

5k Course

Start at Woodley park -1, head west through the tunnel walkway, when you exit the tunnel take a right, then another right (yes a big U-turn) onto the main bike path that runs along Woodley Ave, follow the paved bike path up to the 5k turn around sign, turn around and head back up the bike path to the finish line.

COURSE SPECIFICS

Weekend warriors / walkers :
Yes, very walker friendly course, mostly flat, plenty of water stations, and loads of fun! Generous 4:00 hour time limit so take your time and enjoy the scenery, all levels of fitness are welcome at our events.

Middle of the pack runners:

Great course for a new PR (personal record) this year. All flat course, plenty of room to make your move towards your PR

Elite and Advanced runners:

This all flat course along bike path is a great way to test your fall season speed. And with wave starts you can get to your top speed right out of the gate!

PACKET PICK UP

Location - Fleet Feet Encino, 16545 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436

Time: Saturday before the race 10am-2pm

- This is where you pick up your race timing chip, race bib #, and race day t-shirt, ask your pre- race questions, check out the course map.
- This will be your last chance to register for this race,

RACE SCHEDULE

Races will start on time so please arrive 30-45 minutes beforehand

7:00 am - Half Marathon START

7:15 am - 10K START

7:30 am - 5K START

WAVE START INFO

Wave starts are designed to reduce race start congestion and improve your race day running experience. In a wave start, runners start in groups at 2 minute intervals. This way you can run with others who are similar in speed. A wave start will allow you plenty of space along the course, at the water stations and at the finish line, without affecting your chip time or the time you have to complete the race. On race day you will line up under / behind the banner that best fits your estimated running pace per mile, see chart below.

Race Start (RS) - 7 minute mile pace

Start time 2 mins later from RS - 8 minute mile pace

Start time 4 mins later from RS - 9 minute mile pace

Start time 6 mins later from RS - 10+ minute mile pace

RACE-DAY EXPO

There will be a race day expo with several vendors ready to help you with your race day needs and race day goodies.

POST-RACE TACOS
That’s right, runners will be awarded a free plate of freshly made street tacos at the post-race party and expo! And yes you can buy more tacos for $4 each plate.

Special note: Friends and family can buy food tickets for $4 each.

Kit List

Normal running gear is perfect for this event. Please wear suitable running shoes and depending on the weather it is advised that you bring warm clothes for after the event.

Spectators are welcome! Friends and family can join in and eat the post-race street tacos

FAQs

What if you can't make the event due to an emergency?

Have an emergency? Can't make the event you've paid for? No problem we will reschedule you for any Elite Sports CA event within the next 12 months. WHAT?? YES unheard of!!

What is the cut-off time for the half marathon?

4 hours

How long apart are the wave starts?

Wave's are two minutes apart.

Can I register for the race at the packet pick-up location?
YES...There are NO Discounts at expo registration cash or credit card only - NO CHECKS. You can also register on line or by sending in the registration form. There is no race day registration.

Can I pick up my race packet on race day?
YES...you can pick up your race packet on race day, but we advise you to come early!! There may be hundreds of people doing the same and it may take a little time. We advise you to go to the packet pick-up Saturday before race day instead. Last minute check in on race day begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:45 a.m.

Can I pick up someone else's packet if they cannot make it out on Saturday ?
YES...you can pick up a friend or relatives items bring a note from them signed by them that you are picking up their number

Can you sign up on race day?

No race day registration

Where are the aid stations and Port a Potties going to be?

Approx every 1.5 miles

Who will receive a prize?

Top 3 overall M/F in each race - Special Award
