First time running Heartland Half Marathon in 2019. People were nice that volunteered time but overall I was underwhelmed and very disappointed with the main thing, the race. This would have been a great experience if they hadn't stopped the run!! Granted the rainy conditions were very challenging and tested everyone's resolve BUT to be able to finish a race in these conditions would have been something I would have talked about for the rest if my life!!! In my opinion the organizers wussed out on calling this race off!! Now this will be the legacy of Heartland Marathon whenever I talk about this race. I don't know who got into whose ear to stop this run but it was a bad decision in my opinion. I don't want to hear somebody say "oh there was possible lightning or people were getting injured", fiddlestix people get injured all the time. It's risky running a marathon in the heat too. Come on stop the wussification of all things in our day, just drives me nuts!OK I'm done ranting. And I did finish the lost portion of my run when I got home. 

The Omaha Running Club has proudly served our running community for more than four decades. Our club has managed local running events for more than 40 years and is pleased to host our signature event, The Heartland Marathon. Please help the Omaha Running Club continue to present this successful, locally owned event. Remember, it is an event put on by runners, for runners, and for the benefit of the local running community and runners everywhere.
