Cut-off Time
There will be a 9 hour cut-off time in place for all races.
Aid Stations
There will be fully-stocked aid stations approximately every few miles. It is recommended that runners carry their own water, at least 20 oz. between aid stations. You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, water, and ectrolyte sports drink.
Cupless Event
The event is now cupless, so runners are asked to bring their own water bottles.
Course Markings
The courses will be marked with ribbon approximately every 200 yards and color coded as follows:
  • 5 mi – orange
  • Half Marathon – pink
  • 30k – Half Marathon + 5 mi
  • Marathon – Half Marathon twice
  • 50k - Marathon + orange loop
The most important markings along the course will be the polka-dot flagging, which indicated a turn at an intersection. There will be at least two of these flags before a turn in the course, which will be placed before and on the same side as the required turn.
As you start to approach the intersections, please look for any polka-dot flags before turning. Waiting until you're in the intersection to determine the correct direction may be confusing and you may go the wrong way.
After you complete the turn, there will be orange and/or pink flagging indicating the correct route. We also hang blue ribbons at critical junctions indicating the wrong way. Blue is bad!
If you go 3-4 minutes without seeing your respective flagging, it's likely you've gone off course and should retrace your path until you find the course again.
Please be courteous on the trail. If you're passing another runner or hiker, announce "on your left" as you approach.
Headphones
Headphones are allowed on dirt road sections only. Please do not wear headphones on single-track trail, while crossing paved roads, when getting aid at aid stations, or while crossing the finish line.
Trails
Many of the parks in California have poison oak. The organizer's recommend staying on the trail and washing with Tecnu after your trail run. Occasionally, bees or yellow jackets may be active and precautions should be taken if you're allergic.
