Course Details

Marathon Course
The first 23 miles of the marathon course are almost perfectly flat and very close to sea level. Miles 24 and 25 take the course across Humboldt Bay via three low bridges. Each bridge rises no more than 35 feet above the water, so the climbs are not big, but we know that anything after 23 miles is a challenge. There's an aid station right before the first bridge and just after the last one. Mile 26 is partially downhill as it leaves the last bridge and cuts through Old Town Eureka ending just above sea level on the waterfront. The course starts and finishes at Madaket Plaza, 1st and C Streets in Eureka.

Runners will have a maximum of 6 hours 30 minutes to complete the course.

Half Marathon Course
The first 10 miles are almost completely flat and near sea level. Miles 11 and 12 cross Humboldt Bay over a series of three low bridges (max height 35 feet) and the last mile, is slightly downhill to finish on the Eureka Waterfront just above sea level. The race starts near Klopp Lake at the south end of I Street in the Arcata Marsh and finishes at the foot of C street on the Bay (Madaket plaza, Eureka Waterfront)

Runners will have a maximum of 4 hours 30 minutes to complete the course. A free shuttle bus will take half marathon entrants to the start area.

5K Course
This 5k will go out the last 1.55 miles of the marathon course and return.
