The I&M Canal Trail Relay is a fundraiser for the Active Transportation Alliance. Your registration supports efforts to make it easier and safer to bike, walk and use transit throughout Chicagoland.
The trail follows the historic I&M Canal where runners will see historic locks and dams and scenic vistas of five rivers, bluffs, woods, and wetlands. The relay will also pass through historic villages on its way to the finish at the Lock 16 Visitor’s Center in LaSalle, IL, which is just a short distance from beautiful Starved Rock State Park.
The trail is mostly crushed limestone and flat. Some sections are a mix of gravel, dirt and grass. The entire route is on the I&M Canal Trail except for a short on-road section near the finish line.
