About
The Bristol Independence Rhode Race will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019. In partnership with the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, the Tufts Health Plan half marathon will follow the beautiful downtown streets of America’s quintessential community when it is decked out in its finest – during the Oldest 4th of July Celebration in America. The course includes incredible historic homes, a town common and the America’s Cup Museum before heading out along the scenic coastline, through Colt State Park and finishing along the water at Independence Park.

Route information
The scenic course will start on historic Thames St. in beautiful downtown Bristol. It will lead runners around quaint and patriotic downtown, past festive homes and the America’s Cup Museum – following part of the famous 4th of July parade route. The course then heads out winding Poppasquash Rd around Bristol harbor. It turns through Coggeshall Farm, around the trails and coastal waterways of sweeping Colt St. Park before heading back downtown and finishing against the backdrop of the Mt. Hope Bridge and Narragansett Bay.
Course limit is 3.5 hrs.

Will there be medals?
Yes. Medals will be awarded to all finishers.
Are there Age Group Awards?
Yes, we will have an awards ceremony once most of our age group categories have filled in. We will present Top 3 M/F Overall and Top 3 M/F in each age group – 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+
What is provided at the aid stations and where are they located?
Aid stations are located throughout the course. Please reference course maps for exact locations. Aid stations will have water and Nuun hydration. Some additional aid stations will have Clif energy gels and bananas.
What do I do with my belongings at the start?
There will be a gear bag check at the start of the Tufts Health Plan Half Marathon. All gear must be placed in labeled bags and any unattended bags will be discarded. Please do not leave anything valuable in our gear check, as Rhode Races & Events is not responsible for lost or damaged items. All clothing discarded at the start of the race will be collected and donated.
Will there be medical stops on the course?
There will be medical personnel at the finish line and roving throughout the race. Aid stations will be able to call for assistance.
Can I push a stroller?
No, pushing a stroller is not permitted due to USTAF restrictions.Once I finish,
can I go back and run in with a friend?
No. If you cross the finish line twice the slower time will be recorded.
Can a friend or family member cross the finish line with me?
Due to the size of this race, it is allowed but not encouraged. We would like to give all our participants ample room to finish safely.
