The IPA 10K, Brewfest and Beer Mile Invitational is a multi-experience event held at The Barlow in Sebastopol, California. The Barlow is locally inspired marketplace full of shops, restaurants, breweries and experiences, located in the heart of Sonoma County's dynamic microbeer, wine and food scene. This highly-acclaimed event is only in its third year but has drawn rave reviews for its scenic 10K course, post-race Brewfest with live bands, and the highly entertaining Beer Mile and Brewery Relay Challenge. Your 10K entry includes a pre-race cider or beer toast, race shirt, beer themed finishers medal, mini-pint, entry into the Brewfest, with live bands, awards, food trucks, product sampling and close up viewing of the Beer Mile and Brewery Relay Challenge!

10K
This scenic 6.2 mile loop course started and finishes in the center of The Barlow, an artisan marketplace located in downtown Sebastopol, California. Set in the heart of Northern California's renowned beer country the course takes runners out on country roads past farms, vineyards and open space fields, and then brings runners back into town on the paved West County and Rodota Trails for a picturesque finish on McKinley St. in The Barlow. There will be two or three start waves (and toasts) - about five minutes apart depending upon the number of participants - to prevent overcrowding at the start and on the paved trail section.

Beer Mile Course
Watch an elite field of women and men Beer Milers compete for prizes and prestige in the Beer Mile Invitational. The beer milers must first chug a 12 oz. beer in tiger chug zone, then run a 1/4 mile lap around the Barlow and repeat 3 times. The start finish area is located on McKinley St. with great viewing areas on all sides and an elevated VIP viewing area. The entertaining Brewery Relay Challenge follows the men and women's Beer Mile races. Teams of 4 compete for the Growler Trophy. Each participant must chug one beer, run 1 lap around the block and then must consume a second beer while their next up teammate chugs their beer. Contact your favorite brewery to see if they are participating in the event and how to secure a place on their team.

What’s Included
After finishing the race, each runner receives their finishers medal and mini-pint good for tastings the Brewfest featuring the region's finest craft brews and ciders, bands and exhibitors. Just before noon the crowd gathers for the popular Beer Mile Invitational and Brewery Relay Challenge. Many of the top beer milers in the world compete in this iconic event as they chug and run four laps around a block of The Barlow. Brewery teams of four then compete against each other for claim to the Growler Trophy in the highly entertaining Relay Challenge. The event produced by A Good Run, of Sonoma, CA and hosted by The Barlow, an expansive marketplace featuring local artisans, breweries and restauranteurs.

You must pick up your race packet before the race. There are several options to do this:

*Runners Photo ID is required to pick up your race bib and shirt. You can have a friend pick up your packet or you may register for race day packet pickup service in registration for $10. You or your friend will need a copy of your photo ID to receive your packet and shirt.

PURCHASE

Race day packet pick up is available at the check in table near the start line 90 minutes before the race. You will need a photo ID in order to pick up your bib. Please also have your photo ID with you when picking up your tasting glass and wristband for the festival.

We offer Race Day Packet Pick-Up as an add-on which you can add when selecting “purchase additional merchandise” on myevents.active.com where you will either have already “claimed your registration” using your registration ID, or you will claim it and then add Race Day Packet Pickup to your registration! There is a $10 fee for Race Day Pack Pick-Up.
Volunteers

The majority of our volunteers come from partnering non-profit organizations on national, regional and local levels. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to stage this event, and opportunities are available in a number of positions including registration check-in at the Race EXPO, course monitors, wine glass distribution, bag check, recovery tent and medical support.

Rules
Please line up at the start according to your pace. Elite runners will be positioned at the front with runners lining up behind them by mile pace. There will be at least two heats (5 minutes apart). Faster runners (8 min per mile or less) in the 1st heat. Please do not line up ahead of your pace time! Race is chip timed so your time will officially begin when you cross the timing mat at the start line. Top 3 overall men and women finishers are on gun time. Take extra precaution as you start the race!

You must run with a registered bib in your name and wear it so its visible to race officials and the timer. Failure to do so will result in immediate ejection and public shaming. Transfers are allowed and can be completed on the registration page or at the expo and packet pickup.

ALWAYS stay inside right of the cones on the roadways, unless signs or chalk indicate otherwise. Straying outside of the defined cone line is dangerous and could result in disqualification.

NO roller blades, skateboards, animals or bicycles on course without permission. Baby strollers designed for runners are permitted but must begin at the back of the starting line.

Portable music with headphones are allowed but must be kept at low volume so runners can hear approaching traffic and verbal instructions from law enforcement and volunteers. Failure to abide may result in DQ.

Please obey law enforcement officers and volunteers at all times! They are positioned on course for your safety. In rare cases, law enforcement may require runners to stop to allow traffic to pass. Failure to obey law enforcement and volunteers may result in removal from the course and disqualification.
