The 10k course takes runners through the heart of the Alabama hills. Facing an initially tough climb, participants will stretch through 50 meters of elevation in the first 3 kilometers. After this, they will descend through gentle rollers before taking on a steep incline at the 5k mark.
After climbing 60m, runnners will then slowly descend downwards towards the end of the course, twisting and turning past Lone Pine Creek on route to the finish line.
The Half Marathon course is perfect for trail runners of all levels of experience. This panoramic course takes runners past the National Scenic Area as intrepid runners battle steep climbs throughout.
There is a particularly challenging hill at the 10.3 mark which takes runners on a 70m climb over 2 kilometers. Trail course beginners will be relieved to hear that the course then trails downwards until the 17k mark where there is a brief period of steep elevation as runners drift alongside Movie Road.
Runners will finish the event at Whitney Portal Road at the starting area after gliding through a gradual downhill section at the finish.

Parking
There is limited parking available outside the Museum of Western Film History and Lone Pine High School.

Saturday
6:00am Shuttle Buses will start picking up runners from the Museum of Western Film History in Lone Pine.

Packet Pickup
Runners can pick up their race packet in advance of the event on Wednesday between 4-8:00pm at Road Runner Sports, Lauguna, CA. It is also possible to pick up race packets on Friday at the Western Film History Museum between 4-7 am. Runners can also pick up race packets on the event day. Make sure to arrive with plenty of time to spare. Race packs will contain runner race bibs and other goodies.
Aid and Water Stations
There will be 3 Aid and Water Stations on the Course for the Half Marathon and 2 Aid and Water Stations for participants competing in the 10k
Virtual
Both the 25k and 5k courses can be run virtually, further information will be provided closer to race day.
Race Swag
All runners will be given a John Wayne Grit Series NATHAN custom shirt and a commemorative mug after completing the race.
Chip-timed results
Runners participating in both courses will be chip timed.
Toilets
Toilet information will be provided closer to the event day.
Award Ceremony
The top 3 Men and Top 3 Women finishers on the course will receive a podium prize.
