Route information
The La Jolla Half Marathon & 5k is one of the most beautiful races in all of America.
Starting at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the Half Marathon follows a scenic coastal route before reaching the challenging climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park. The course then rolls atop Torrey Pines mesa, continues down through residential La Jolla Shores, and finishes at La Jolla Cove.
For those interested in a shorter option, the La Jolla Shores 5k offers a mostly downhill course and features some of the most scenic views of the last 3.1 miles of the half marathon course.

Get full directionsBy Car
Participants can reach the Finish Line Area by exiting the I-5 at exit 26A onto La Jolla Parkway.
Participants can reach the 5k start line by exiting the I-5 at exit 28 or 28B onto La Jolla Village Drive.
Participants can reach the Half Marathon start line by exiting the I-5 at exit 36 onto Via De La Valle.
Parking
There will be parking available near the finish line area and near start lines of both races.
Expo Parking
There are a number of free on street parking spaces primarily south of Prospect Street. Parking near the ocean is very limite. There are several underground garages paid parking spaces on and near Prospect Street.
Pre and Post Event Shuttles
The La Jolla Half Marathon & 5k will have buses to the start line of each race. The buses will leave from the finish area at 1100 Coast Blvd. La Jolla, CA 92037.
The Half Marathon bus pick up will be from 4:30am to 5:30am. The 5k bus pick up will be from 5:15am to 6:15am.
Buses will run after the event back to the start line of the events for anyone who parked near there. They will run from 8:45am to 11:15am.

Can I pickup my race pack before the day of the La Jolla Half Marathon & 5k?
Yes, packet pickup will be available at the race expo at Scripps Park on the Friday before the event from 9am to 7pm.
Will there be shuttles to the start lines of the La Jolla Half Marathon & 5k races?
Yes shuttles will be running to both start lines on the morning of the event. There will also be shuttles running to the start lines after the event for anyone who parked near them.
Will the La Jolla Half Marathon & 5k be timed?
Yes, your bib number will have a plastic strip which is your timing device and should not be removed.
