Run around Dollar Creek and Burton Creek State Park on this fun and challenging trail race. Taking you through the pine forests and meadows of the high sierra, this is a stunning route. There are three race options available, and you can get the kids involved in a fun run.

Lake Tahoe Burton Creek Half Marathon Trail Run routes

Half-Marathon: Starting near Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area, the route heads along Dollar Creek before heading through Burton Creek State Park on a big loop. Total elevation gain 1313ft.

12K: The route does 2 loops around Dollar Creek. Total elevation gain 770ft.

6K: The route does 1 loop around Dollar Creek. Total elevation gain 421ft

Kids Race: The distances will differ according to age group. Minimum age is 4 years old.

Raceday Logistics

Saturday 22nd June:

  • 13:00 - Athlete Check-in and onsite registration opens at Highlands Community Center
  • 15:00 - Athlete Check-in and onsite registration closes

Sunday 23rd June:

  • 07:00 - Athlete Check-in and onsite registration opens at Highlands Community Center
  • 07:30 - Half Marathon starts
  • 08:15 - Athlete Check-in and onsite registration closes
  • 08:30 - 6K and 12K races start
  • 10:00 - Big Blue BBQ begins

Prize-giving ceremony will be ASAP following final race

Volunteers

Volunteers can earn a free race registration of their own. In return for volunteering a minimum of 4 hours, you will receive:

  • $10 of Big Blue Adventure Bucks for future events
  • Event SWAG
  • Food and drink
  • Awards ceremony and afterparty

Volunteers must be older than 17, or accompanied by an adult/guardian

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Youth/Senior mean?
Youth runners are those aged 18 and under. Senior runners are aged 62 or older.
Can I purchase tickets on the day?
If the event has not already sold out, tickets can be purchased on the day at an extra cost of $5
Can I wear headphones?
It is not encouraged to wear headphones, both for your own personal enjoyment of the race and for the safety of your fellow runners. Running without headphones will allow you to appreciate the race environment, build camaraderie with other runners, and hear instructions and encouragement from volunteers.
Are dogs allowed?
No dogs are allowed on the course. In the venue area, dogs are permitted but should be kept on a leash at all times.
