Ride around this scenic and fun course near Lake Tahoe for a brilliant mountain biking day out. There are a range of races to choose from, taking riders on multiple laps around the tracks and fire roads, and you can also race as part of a team.

Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike Race routes

The course is around 12 miles, along the track and fireroad. The route is fast and smooth, including some technical segments. Total elevation gain per lap = 1350ft

XC Race runners do two laps of the course. 4hr and 8hr runners complete as many laps as they can within the given time limit.

Teams must dismount within the transition area before handing over.

For the 4hr race, the final lap must be started before 12pm and finished by 13:10 in order to count; for the 8hr race, the final lap must be started before 4pm and finished by 17:10.

Raceday Logistics

The team set-up area will be open on Friday afternoon until 8pm

Saturday 20th June:

  • 06:00 - Athlete check-in and registration opens
  • 06:30 - Bike and gear staging opens
  • 07:15 - Athlete check-in and registration closes
  • 08:00 - All races start
  • 11:30 - Post-race meal starts
  • 12:00 - 4hr race finishes
  • 13:20 - Prize-giving for 4hr race
  • 16:00 - 8hr race finishes
  • 16:30 - Prize-giving for 8hr race
Kit List

You must wear a certified helmet at all times when on the course. Your race-number must be displayed on front of your handle bars and on your back.


Volunteers can earn a free race registration of their own. In return for volunteering a minimum of 4 hours, you will receive:

  • $10 of Big Blue Adventure Bucks for future events
  • Event SWAG
  • Food and drink
  • Awards ceremony and afterparty

Volunteers must be older than 17, or accompanied by an adult/guardian

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear headphones during the race?
No MP3 players or headphones may be used while on the course.
What if I have a protest/complaint?
Team captains must submit any protests to the race director by 12:05 for the 4hr race and 16:05 for the 8hr race. The decision made by the race director is final.
How can I pass another cyclist?
You must pass at a safe location, not on a tight corner or in a narrow section. If you are passing, you must vocalize your intent, eg "Passing on the right/left"
