Event summary
Here are the distances available for Mountain Brow House 50K
Route information
Back in the days of the Gold Rush, the Mountain Brow House stood tall and proud as the rowdy spirit of the Gold Rush ushered bar room brawls, shoot outs, and tired travellers through its doors. As the era drew to a close, the House shut its doors, however, the legend lives on, and runners will revisit the site of the famous structure in this gruelling 50K trail race.
The race begins high up on Skyline Boulevard in the Purisima Creek North Ridge parking lot, and plunges down a sharp decline before entering Harkins Ridge Trail where runners will experience expansive views of the coastline and wooded valley. Runners will then be plunged into the depths of the redwoods where the trail will undulate with moderate ascents and descents before a thigh-burning uphill climb back for the second loop.
The course will be marked with striking yellow ribbon, with clear and easy to read signage keeping you on track. There will also be a number of aid stations along the route:
  • A water and electrolyte stop will be at the turnaround point on Skyline Boulevard. (5.5 miles).
  • A water and electrolyte stop with fruit and energy gels will be at the Tunitas aid station (10.3 miles).
  • Full aid with nutrition and hydration at the Purisima Higgins aid station (14.5 miles).
  • Back at the start and the beginning of the second loop will be another fully stocked aid station (17.5 miles). Cutoff point here.
  • Full aid again with nutrition and hydration at the second pass through the Purisima Higgins aid station (21.25 miles).
  • Water and electrolyte stop with fruit and energy gels again at the Tunitas aid station second pass (24.75 miles).
  • Third pass through Purisima Higgins aid station with nutrition and hydration before the final climb to the finish (27.4 miles).
  • Full aid with beer at the finish (31 miles).
