NCYMCA's Pie Run

The Newport County YMCA is excited to announce the annual Pie Run on Thanksgiving Day! This incredible event has been a tradition since 1985, when it was founded by the Newport Running Club. Not only is it a fun and exhilarating race, but it also serves a greater purpose. The Pie Run is a USATF sanctioned race that collects food donations for the MLK Community Center and raises funds for the Y's Community Support Campaign. Last year, we had over 1,500 walkers and runners come together at the Newport County YMCA parking lot, and we're expecting an even bigger turnout this year! To make it even more inclusive, we're offering both a live/in-person and virtual option. We want every member of our Y community to have the opportunity to participate in a way that works best for them. We would like to express our gratitude to all the Pie Run participants and volunteers. This event truly brings our community together and aligns with the Y's core values of health, wellness, and social responsibility. The success of the Pie Run allows us to support life-changing programs and provide Y scholarships to those in need. Now, let's dive into the Pie Run details: - There will be no on-site registration on the day of the race. Please register online or on your device before 7:45am on 11/23/23. - The 5 Mile race will be chip timed, while the 3 Mile race will not be timed. - The race will start promptly at 8:30am, so be sure to arrive early. - If you haven't picked up your bib yet, please arrive by 7:15am. If you've already picked up your bib, please arrive by 7:45am. - The course is dog and stroller friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends or little ones. - Parking and restrooms will be available for your convenience. Don't worry about standing out in the cold on race day! We've made it easy for you to pick up your T-shirt and bib beforehand.
