A gorgeous, scenic course that unfolds through the Southern California coastal communities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa awaits at the OC Marathon, Half Marathon and Wahoo 5K & Kids Run. Come for the awesome atmosphere and 2 massive finish line parties.

5k

The 5K course start line is just west of the marathon and half marathon finish line inside the OC Fair and Event Center. The course circles through the fairgrounds and crosses Fairview Drive and on to Merrimac Way. The runners loop around the Orange Coast College campus and enter the marathon course on Merrimac Way. Runners re-enter the OC Fair and Event Center before heading to the finish line.

COURSE LIMIT: 1 HOUR

Half Marathon

This exceptional Southern California Half Marathon starts on Newport Center Drive loop in front of our Official Start Line Hotel, the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa just south of Santa Barbara Drive. The Orange County Half Marathon finishes at the OC Fair and Event Center just off the 55 Freeway in the heart of Costa Mesa.

The first mile of the OC Half Marathon course includes a breathtaking panorama of the Pacific Ocean before winding through the seaside village of Corona del Mar including the spectacular Ocean Blvd. with cliffside views of Big Corona del Mar State Beach. It traverses down Bayside Drive, past the Newport Harbor Yacht Clubs and homes and boats of Newport Harbor. Exceptional views await runners at the bluffs overlooking the Upper Newport Bay Estuary Reserve as are the supportive cheers of neighborhood residents.

The OC Half Marathon course is net downhill in elevation from start to finish. The first 6.5 miles will be extremely fast with only minor inclines. Mile 6.5 to 7.0 is the only significant hill on the course taking the runners from 15 feet to 75 feet. The course is then mostly flat through mile 10.5, a couple rolling hills to 11.5 with a flat and fast final stretch into the OC Fair & Event Center. Register now for the OC Half Marathon.

TIME LIMIT: 3.5 HOURS

Marathon

The SDCCU OC Marathon Course will start in front of our Official Start Line Hotel, the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa just south of Santa Barbara Drive. You will run through the beautiful coastal communities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana finishing off at the OC Fair and Event Center conveniently located just off the 55 freeway in the heart of Costa Mesa.

The first mile of the OC Marathon course includes a breathtaking panorama of the Pacific Ocean before winding through the seaside village of Corona del Mar including the spectacular Ocean Blvd. with cliff side views of Big Corona del Mar State Beach. It traverses down Bayside Drive, past the Newport Harbor Yacht Clubs and homes and boats of Newport Harbor. Exceptional views await runners at the bluffs overlooking the Upper Newport Bay Estuary Reserve as are the supportive cheers of neighborhood residents. Marathoners continue into the heart of Orange County, Costa Mesa, passing by the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, around South Coast Plaza, and through the campus of Segerstrom High School. One more mile in Santa Ana before turning onto the Santa Ana River Trail for 1.5 miles before exiting at Gisler foot-bridge.

The Full Marathon course is net downhill in elevation from start to finish. The first 6.5 miles will be extremely fast with only minor inclines. Mile 6.5 to 7.0 is the only significant hill on the course taking the runners from 15 feet to 75 feet. The course is then mostly flat through mile 10.5 with a couple rolling hills to 11.5. There is another 45' incline at mile 14.5 over the 405 overpass and a 40' incline slightly over 1/4 of a mile in length at mile 23 after. These are all relatively small hills.

TIME LIMIT: 7 HOURS

The OC Combo Crush

The OC 5K takes place Saturday at 5PM. The Full and Half Marathon take place on Sunday. Do the fun 5K on Saturday, enjoy great music on the main stage and get home early enough to do the half or full Sunday morning. Runners that do the 5K and half or full will get the OC COMBO CRUSH medal.

PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION/PACKET PICK UP

Each participant must attend the OC Lifestyle and Fitness Expo on Friday between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m or Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m, and show their identification to pick up their own race bib, timing chip, and technical shirt or t-shirt. You also must sign a hard copy of the release waiver at this time. A friend or family member may pick up your bib IF AND ONLY IF they have a copy of your driver's license and a signed waiver which can be downloaded here.

Volunteers

The OC marathon simply would not be possible without the efforts of its epic volunteers. Volunteering roles vary across the weekend but usually included baggage drop, course marshalling, and manning aid stations.

Take 405 North to 55 South. Exit Fair/ Del Mar.
Proceed to Entrance of the OC Fair and Event Center following signage.

From Los Angeles
Take 405 South and exit Fairview. Turn right onto Fairview. Turn left at Merrimac Way (Gate 3 of the OCFEC) OR Take 405 South to 55 South. Exit Fair/ Del Mar. Proceed to the entrance of the OC Fair and Event Center following signage.

From San Bernardino/ Riverside County
Take 91 West to 55 South. Ext Fair/ Del Mar. Proceed to the entrance of the OC Fair and Event Center following signage.

Please do not park in any area that is not designated The OC Marathon Event Parking area. In order to accommodate the normal traffic around Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, as well as accommodate for the heavy shopping traffic, we need to direct The OC Marathon traffic to the assigned lots. You run the risk of being towed should you choose to park in another area. Parking at any non-designated lot of the Marathon and Half Marathon will be at your own risk. Shuttle service will begin at 4:00 a.m. from the finish line area at the OC Fair and Event Center and continue through the Marathon and Half Marathon starting times. Pre-Race Shuttles

Pre Race Shuttles will run from the Finish Line to the Start line between these hours:

Full Marathon Shuttles: From 3:00 am to 4:45 am

Half Marathon Shuttles: from 4:00 am – 5:45 am

5K Shuttles: Not applicable

Post Race Shuttles: For participants that park at the start line, there will be shuttle service back to the Start Line following the race. The shuttles will pick you up in front of Centennial Farms and drop you off at the start line.

Hotel Shuttles: If you are staying at a host hotel, or local hotel, you should have received a confirmation email upon booking your hotel with the shuttle times. If you did not, please click here and contact CTC.

Parking

Parking at the OC Fair and Event Center will be $10 on the day of the race. You can purchase a parking pass for $9 at the Expo when you're picking up your bib.

Am I allowed to bring my baby stroller jogger, or have a friend inline skate with me?
Baby stroller joggers will be allowed, but you must start at the back of all the participants. In-line skaters, bicyclists, as well as pets will be prohibited on the course in order to ensure the safety of all runners.

Are walkers allowed?
Walkers are encouraged to participate in the Half Marathon rather than the Full Marathon. The Full Marathon course has a time limit of 7.0 hours. The Half Marathon has a 3.5 hour time limit, so as long as you can walk a 15 minute mile, you can walk the the Half Marathon. The 5K does not have a time limit.
