All ORRC events are well organized and the Champoeg event is one of the best! Beautiful, scenic course, fantastic venue & generous SWAGDid the event in 2019
The course winds through a state park over some of the parks roadway and some asphalt paths. There are A few gentle ups and downs with very little elevation gain to speak of. There are open views of the park and surroundings while on the parks roadway. The course then turns to an asphalt path through a forest of evergreen trees. There are a few openings in the tree cover that give you a view of the Willamette river that the path follows. The scenery is nice but Id call it average for the NorthWest. The course was accurate and clear with its markings. There was a very lighthearted atmosphere amongst the race directors and racers which made it feel like a nice small town race. The Finnish line had soup and snacks and there were enough aid stations to provide for everyones needs on the course. My only complaint is regarding the bibs. There were several different races being run at the same time on an out and back style course. I would have preferred that each race group have their own bib color. I think it helps with the mental side of running to know who youre competing with. All in all it was positive experience.Did the event in 2019
Very well organized and the logistics were great - some of the best! At the end of the race, the snack tables were loaded and there was plenty for all to refuel on. And it was regular snacks, not fuel up snacks that I don't need AFTER a race.. My only complaint is the three laps was a bit tedious, and few people weren't aware of the single file bridge etiquette.
