Sign up for one of the 6 race distances, and experience trail running through the incredible hikes and trails surrounding Possum Kingdom Lake. This hilly course poses some healthy challenges, and you can qualify for UTMB in the longest three races.

Possum's Revenge routes

The route takes place on the Possum Kingdom Lake Hike and Bike Trail System. There is a mix of terrains, including single and double track path with rocks and roots. The race starts at above 1,000ft elevation, and there will be some challenging climbs along the way reaching almost 1300ft.

The 69M, 52M and 56K runs are qualifying races for UTMB.

There are individual loops for the 4M and 8M courses. The 17M race has a 17.35 mile loop, which all other races will complete in laps:

  • 56K: 2 laps
  • 52M: 3 laps
  • 69M: 4 laps

Aid Stations:

  • 8 mile loop: Start, 2.43 miles, 6.22 miles, Finish
  • 17 mile loop: Start, 4.25 miles, 6.42 miles, 10.46 miles, 14.92 miles, Finish

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Men and Women Overall for each distance

Raceday Logistics


Friday 29th May:

  • 12:00 - Packet pickup opens at Bug Beach
  • 16:00 - Race meeting starts
  • 17:00 - Race meeting finishes
  • 19:00 - Packet pickup closes

Saturday 30th May:

  • 06:00 - 69M and 52M races start
  • 07:00 - 56K race starts
  • 07:30 - 17M race starts
  • 08:00 - 8M and 4M races start

Sunday 31st May:

  • 05:00 - Cut off time
Kit List

Cups will not be used at the aid stations, so please bring your own reusable cups, bottles or hydration packs.


Spectators are encouraged to get down and cheer on their family and friends at this gruelling event. Come keep morale high.


Shifts for volunteering will last 4-8 hours. If you want to sign up to volunteer, you are welcome to email [email protected]

All volunteers will receive:

  • Free park entry
  • Camping area
  • Race merch
  • Meals provided

If you do 1 shift, you will get 50% race credit for a future one-day race. If you do 2 shifts, you will get 100% credit for a future one-day race.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a pacer?
If you are running the 52M or 69M race, you are allowed a pacer from the beginning of the 3rd Lap (mile 34.8). Pacers must have gone to the start area at Bug Beach and signed a waiver.
Where can I leave my baggage?
There will be a drop bag area at the 3 manned aid stations.
Can I change my distance?
If you need to change the distance you have registered for please reach out directly to Trail Racing Over Texas before the event. Once you have started your event, there is not changing of race events. You must finish the distance you signed up for if you would like a medal for that distance.
Will there be refreshments and feed stations?
Yes, there will be gatorade, water, and base performance as well as various gels, fruits, nutrition bars, PB&Js, Pringles and many other varieties.
