Route information
This popular event returns to the scenic resort town of Snowmass Village in Colorado over June 6th-7th, offering you the chance to get together in a team of 8 and soak in amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, alongside some fantastic trail routes. Why not make a long weekend of it, with access to camping opening on Thursday night, and the chance to upgrade your experience with luxury glamping options?
You'll explore three trail loops by daylight and moonlight to cover 15 miles each and 120 miles in total. All routes start from the Ragnar Village and take in some spectacular mountain scenery. After each leg, you'll return to the Village for your exchange with the next team member.
The Green Loop covers 3.8 miles and 596ft of elevation, weaving through pine forests before you start climbing up to the highest point of the route. Once there, you'll get an amazing vista of Pyramid Peak and Maroon Bells, both part of the Elk Mountain range. The final section of the loop is a steady descent back down towards the Ragnar Village.
The Yellow Loop, Highline/Lowline Trail, has less elevation but spans 4.6 miles along the Highline trailhead. The trail will bring you to the peak of a small ridgeline, where you'll be able to see the entirety of Snowmass Canyon. The uphill section only lasts 1 mile, bringing you onto a downhill section back towards the Village.
The more taxing Rim Trail, the event's Red Loop, is yet another climb, with 6 miles and 1121ft of elevation. You'll follow the ridge above Snowmass, passing by wildflower fields and heading through wooded areas before you hit a meandering descent back to the Village.
