Green Loop - Otter Creek Overlook Trail(Easy):
The Green Loop starts along the Village but quickly takes a hard right turn to venture out into the woods alone. You will find yourself hopping over roots on a tight single-track that winds through a thick lush forest. Around mile 1 the terrain opens up to reveal old growth trees and the pine needle cushioned trail levels out enough to turn on the heat. At mile 1.5 the trail bends and overlooks an old rock quarry. At this point, if you’re not looking to take the triple-crown, and you wanted to hike out an additional ¼ mile to a bat cave, not THE bat, we highly recommend it. Another mile of steady climbing single-track brings you to some incredible views over the Ohio River and into Indiana. Don’t look too long or you’ll miss the sharp right turn on another single track to head back to the Village. Just before mile 3 you join with the red loop to take it home for a photo finish.
Yellow Loop - Valley Overlook Trail (Intermediate):
At a ¼ mile, the Yellow Loop veers left to split away from the Red Loop to run alongside a perfect row of tall Red Cedars. Don’t like straight lines? You’ll love this one! A left turn places you on a twisting and turning, rocky and rooty single-track. Just as you start hitting your stride the trail drops 200 feet hits you in the gut and then drops again. Now the fun begins. From mile 3 to 3.5 the trail is a fun, tight single track that drops down into and then climbs back out of a ravine. And it keeps climbing and climbing for the hardest last mile ever! Keep chuggin' though, you're close to the Village.
Red Loop - Otter Creek Trail (Hard):
The first two miles of the Red Loop are fast. The trail is soft with pine needles and snakes through dense Red Cedars. At mile 2 the views change and you quickly take the plunge to Lick Bottom…we couldn’t resist. At mile 3 things mellow out again as the trail turns to run along Otter Creek, the namesake of this Loop. The next 1.5 miles are fun. The trail hugs the crystal clear creek and passes over ledges and under rock outcroppings. We think it is the best section of the course. You can thank us later. Around mile 4.5 the trail leaves the creek and runs along an old logging road. This is a good section to cruise and get your legs about you, because at mile 5.5 things will change. You will turn left onto a steep single-track and for about a quarter-mile your legs might be burning like a shot of Burbon. You'll meet up with Green Loop and ease your way back to the Village.
