Route description

Irvine Valley College plays host to what has been voted the #1 race in Orange County. The Annual Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 1K Kids Run is more than just a race, but a truly epic event that brings together over 5000 participants, 2000 spectators, and 600 volunteers all to raise money and awareness for eradicating Childhood Cancer.

The mildly undulating course takes you around the Irvine Valley College campus, and with the course being on closed, fast tarmac and officially chip timed, it's the perfect opportunity to get a personal best, train for future races, or even just to run for a good time, all to support a fantastic cause.

After the event, celebrate with the masses of fellow runners and spectators, and support local vendors at the Finish Line Festival.

The Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids Run would not be possible without the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. During the months leading up to the race, you can help at the Irvine office with outreach, recruitment and organizing. They also need 600 volunteers to work shifts during Race Weekend – there’s something for everyone.

Volunteer Training

Volunteer Orientation meetings and introduction videos are offered to allow for key volunteers to learn the basics of the Reaching for the Cure Event and all that’s involved with being a volunteer. This will be held approximately 2 weeks before the walk as a final preparation for the weekend. If you’d like to step up and be a Key Volunteer on race weekend, please let the Volunteer Coordinator know and they will provide you with training dates and location details as soon as they become available.

Group Volunteers

There are many opportunities that are great for groups. If you’re interested, contact the office to get your name on the list early. Email [email protected] or (949) 859-6312

Office Volunteers

They are always looking for volunteers to help during the months leading up to the race. They work on many tasks to prepare for the race, including team support, mailings, data entry, outreach and more. If you’re available anytime Monday-Friday, between 9:00am – 5:00pm, please let them know.
