Ridge Route Ultra

Compete in the Ridge Route Ultra or 25K trail run for a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the rich history of the Old Ridge Route Road like never before.

Be transported back in time as you travel along the 100-year-old road that saved California from being split into two states, and be blown away by the panoramic views experienced from the ridges of the San Gabriel Mountains as you descend from Quail Lake in Gorman to the dazzling shores of Castaic Lake.

The 50K trail will start at an elevation of 3,569ft, and will be a net-downhill race with over 2,800ft of climbing. Runners should expect most of the course to be on pavement, however, there will be sections revealing the original brick roadwork, and the occasional gravel.

This will be a true test of your balance, speed, and trail technique, and is the perfect opportunity to lose yourself in the beauty of your surroundings and the sport of running.

The 25K trail run, although shorter than the ultra, is not to be underestimated. Starting at Lake Castaic, runners will have to climb Grasshopper Canyon before meeting up with the Ultra runners for the last 10k of the 50K route. The descent to the finish will offer dazzling views over Castaic Lake, with the smells of a hot cooked meal wafting up as you breeze over the line.
