RJA Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon Founded in 1982 by the late Robert J. Aaron. Long considered the east end season opener would be celebrating its 31st anniversary this year. The race consists of a 1 mile swim, 22 miles bike and 6.2 miles run.

How to enter the RJA Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon

RJA Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon route

This course must be completed in 3 hours 55 minutes.

SWIM - The distance is 1 mile in the calm salt water of Lake Montauk. The course is out and back. Since this race is in the spring, wet suits are recommended (water temperature is normally around 55 degrees Fahrenheit).

BIKE - The distance is 22 miles taking you along Montauk historical routes; giving you a bird's eye view of the famous Montauk Lighthouse. The course is out and back with some hills. Hardshell helmets (ANSE approved) and bar end plugs are mandatory. This race adheres to USAT policy of NO DRAFTING.

RUN - The distance is 6.2 miles through the scenic side of Montauk challenging hills . NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON THE COURSE (ex: iPods, MP3 players etc). No water stops on the bike course, however, water stops are at one mile intervals on the run course.

Raceday Logistics

Packet Pickup: Fri. June 7th 2019 from 10.00am to 10.00pm at the Harborside Motel, 371 West Lake Drive, Montauk NY 11954.

ABSOLUTELY NO RACE REGISTRATION/PACKET PICK UP ON DAY OF THE EVENT. Participants must be present with photo ID to collect race packet. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Non-USAT members must pay $10.00 for one day membership. The race is on rain or shine.

Volunteer as a group of 10 or more and receive a donation to your non profit charity, or your athletic program. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Day before race, Participant check-in & Race Day


USAT rules mandates NO DRAFTING on the course. All participans must have approved ANSI/SNELL helmets. Helmet straps must be fastened before bike leaves racks and remain fastened until bike is replaced. Bike and run numbers must be displayed throughout the entire race. Bar end plugs are mandatory. All athletes must participate in their age group division relative to their age at December 31st of the current ye
