Tackle a section of the iconic Western States 100 course in the Ruck a Chuck 50k trail race. Starting in Forest Hill, this challenging out and back route will head to the Rucky Chucky campgrounds before turning and climbing back to the finish. Proper training and heat acclimation is advised.

Ruck a Chuck route

This challenging 50K trail race that covers part of the infamous Western States 100 trail race route is the perfect training race for both WS100 and Canyons 100, or just an epic way to explore the Western States Trail.

The race will start in outside of Foresthill Middle School and head towards the Rucky Chucky Campgrounds, passing 2 aid stations along the way. At the campgrounds, runners will turn around and begin the slow, burning climb back up to the finish line. The route will take you through incredible woodland, over stunning natural trails, and show you the best of what the Western States Trail has to offer.

Celebrate with your fellow competitors at the buzzing post-race party, where they will be serving up delicious food to ensure you are refuelled post this awesome achievement.

Schedule:

08:00am: Race starts

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before race time to ensure plenty of time for registration.

Bag Drop:

There will be a bag drop at event HQ.

Cutoff Times:

Cal 2 aid station - 8.7 miles - 10:10am cutoff (15:00 min/mile)

Rucky Chucky (turn around) - 15.5 miles - 12:08pm cutoff (16:00 min/mile)

Cal 2 aid station - 22.3 miles - 2:30pm cutoff (17:30 min/mile)

Cal 1 aid station - 27.3 miles - 4:07pm cutoff (17:52 min/mile)

Finish - 31 miles - 9hrs 30minutes - after this time, runners will be marked as unofficial finishers.

Please note - if you drop out at any of the aid stations, you must wait there until the aid station closes in order to get a ride back to the start or finish. The same goes for anyone who misses a cutoff time.

Kit List
  • Each runner is responsible for bringing their own reusable cups or water bottles as this is a cup-less event.
Spectators

The finish line is a great area for spectators to come cheer their runners on as they complete this epic challenge.
