What is the refund policy for the Silver Strand Half Marathon?
Refund Policy: Due to the number of race transfer requests and cancellations that occur in the weeks prior to a race the organizer has the following policy that is in accordance with USATF Policy. Refunds will NOT be issued after a registration has taken place. Considerable effort goes into producing an event and funds are expended and applied in good faith based upon a registration. If you would like to change your registration from one distance to another, you will be charged for the difference in price at the time of the change. Please note: The organizer loves what they do and what they do is put on events. After months and months of planning, coordinating and making our very best effort to create a race experience that the organizer considers to be the best in California the last thing they ever want to do is postpone or cancel a race. The organizer also understands that athletes devote a significant amount of their time, money and effort preparing for a race. So, if they need to make the difficult decision to postpone or cancel a race it’s a great disappointment for them and they know it’s a great disappointment to you. Unfortunately, though, that is the risk they share. You may feel you are entitled to a full refund if they postpone or cancel a race, but this is not feasible given the costs incurred in the months leading up to race day.

The course was great- beautiful, scenic with lots of people supporting you. However, the race organization was very disorganized.

There was no bag drop.
Did the race in 2022
The wait for shuttle at the finish took very long.

Very Disappointed with the fact Imperial Beach was not included in the race. This will be my last time running in the Silver Strand Half Marathon, because of the finish line is no longer at the IB pier. Your races have always been a lot of fun and that’s why I have returned year after year, but with the finish line being moved to the Silver Strand Beach, I will not return. Thank you Mike Tena.

Pick up went smooth at the Expo. I got sick from the electrolyte juice on the course. I think this should have been advertised on the website as this was not a popular name brand like Gatorade or Nuun. The start was delayed due to road closures I believe that should have been taken into account beforehand. There were no bananas afterwards (helps with cramping) and there was no water for runners towards the end. The worst part was the line afterwards to wait for the shuttle. We waited for over 30 minutes and had to ride for another 25 minutes back to Tidelands park. I got so cold waiting and I got sick from the electrolyte I drank that I threw up when we finally made it back to the parking lot. I've done over 30 marathons and yes I should have known better to check what was given on the course but the shuttles and the amount of traffic trying to get out of Silverstrand is enough for me to stay away from this race and recommend others do the same.

It was very difficult leaving the race on Sunday. I had to get back to check out of my hotel and ended up having to spend more money for a later checkout due to not being able to get out of the race. There was no signage for shuttles, and I ended up having to get a Lyft and walk 1.5 miles to their location. Additionally, the lack of a swag bag or anything along those lines was odd. I've never participated in a race where there wasn't a bag of goodies. First time for everything I suppose.

Why was there another out and back at mile 11? It‘s a shame because it defeats so much momentum of the race. There should also be transportation provided for our loved ones aka spectators.
Did the race in 2022
Course was confusing at the end and poorly organized when it came to have people supporting the event.. surely this even will never grow like this.
Did the race in 2022
Didn’t like the shirts, not suitable for running. Food after race was very poor. Winner’s medal basically the same as the participants.

Make it a point to point course like it used to be.
