Spartan loves Spectators
Most USA venues will require one to purchase a Festival Pass to gain entry as a spectator, so check on the race's specific event page for pricing. Typically, the fee is $25 when purchased on race day. Kids 13 and under are free. There is no spectator age limit.
With the Festival Pass, you get a coupon at registration (redeemable at the merchandise tent). Additionally you will have viewing access of some obstacles, the start and finish line, the vendor tents, and hot food for sale on the grounds. Enjoy music while watching your friends and loved ones slip and slide through the Spartan course, from the Spartan festival grounds. Raffles, entertainment, spectator challenges, free muddy hugs from Spartan athletes, and all the other festival perks makes spectating all worth while. The next ticket you will want to buy will be a race entry.

Yes, but can I get on the course to watch my racer?
As for roaming the course or watching each obstacle, each course will have different restrictions. On some ski mountains, you can take a ski lift to the top where there will be obstacles to watch. At ALL events, the festival area is situated within sight of at least 6 obstacles where you can catch your family and friends.

My Junior Spartan(s) are in the Kids Race, do I need to purchase a Festival Pass?
Each Kids Race registration includes two free Festival Passes per FAMILY. If you have one child registered, you'll get two free passes. If you have two children registered, you'll still only receive two free passes. There is no need to register these spectators online ahead of time - just show up with your mini-spartans and check in with them at the Kids Race registration line.

What can I bring into the race with me?
You'll want to check the Athlete Guide and/or Event Page for your specific event for any special guidelines on what you may/may not bring into an event. However, as a general rule, outside food and drink, coolers, and tents are not allowed. You are welcome to bring folding chairs, backpacks, etc.

As a Spartan Race Volunteer, you will ensure that our racers and spectators have an epic experience. Along with a sense of extreme pride and sheer joy from helping out a ton of people you've never met before, there's a lot to gain from becoming a Spartan Volunteer.
Head over to to sign up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to sign up on the day?
Yes, onsite registration is possible, however, prices will have increased, and spots may have sold out. It is highly recommended booking online beforehand.
How do I get my race start time and barcode?
Your start time and barcode can be found on the Spartan event website. Simply go to your race page, enter your email on the Start Times tab, and print out your barcode. Please bring it on the day.
Something came up and I can no longer make my race, can I transfer to another race?
Yes, you will have 30 days after the event to INITIATE the deferral your unused registration to a different event and 90 days to use your deferral credit towards a new race. The new event does not have to take place in those 90 days, but registration must be completed, after which the credit will expire. You will be charged a flat deferment fee of $35.
Can I skip an obstacle?
It is highly discourages to skip an obstacle without at least attempting it. If there is an obstacle which you are unable to overcome, there is a mandatory set of burpees that must be completed before you are allowed to continue to the race. This could amount to a fair number of burpees, so it is recommended to attempt all obstacles.
