Kit List

What to wear:

Although there is no dress code in Spartan races, wear what you think will be most comfortable during a race where you will be required to run, crawl, climb, roll under barbed wire and jump through fire.

Some guidelines are:

  • Avoid cotton if possible
  • Trail running shoes and lightweight apparel that will drain water and mud quickly
  • Bring a water pack and race fuel
  • It is not recommended to wear new shoes on the day
  • Nothing inappropriate please, this is a family event.

What to bring:

  • Pre-race: Your photo ID, signed waiver form, and registration Barcode (on your phone or printed off)
  • After the race: Cash, a towel and a fresh set of clothes.
  • Recommended: headlamp and Camelback
  • Things not to bring: outside food or drink (you are allowed to bring fuel for the race), your pets, a negative attitude.

What to collect on the day:

You will receive your Registration Packets, Bib Numbers, Finisher shirts, medals etc. on site at the event. These will not be mailed out before the event.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to get front row seats in the festival area to support their friends and family. You'll stay (mostly) out of the mud splatter zone! Entry to the festival costs $20 in advance or $25 on the day, and the pass will give you access to all the stalls and entertainment of the festival village, as well as a merchandise discount card.

Volunteers

Volunteers are more than welcome to get involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the age limits for the kids races?
Kids from ages 4-13 are allowed to take part. Kids are separated according to age groups, but we can stick with friends or siblings if you want to compete together. Parents and guardians aren’t obliged to accompany their children around the course but you can if your child wants support…that's if you can keep up with them!
Will there be photos?
5-7 days after the event, the event page will display professional photos from the event completely free of charge! You will be emailed when your personal photos are ready.
What Spartan Heat is right for me?
Elite Category: this is a real test against the best Spartan racers trying to climb the table of the Spartan Race Point Series. There is money and potential sponsorship at stake, so it gets competitive. There is a code of good sportsmanship though, and all elite athletes honor the strict race rules and guidelines. On-course referees will monitor the elite heats, and rule-breaking athletes risk being disqualified. Age Group Category: This category gives you the chance to try the challenge and get an idea of your ranking amongst other people your age. There is a points series for these runners as well, including podiums, prizes, and rankings. Open Category: Anybody can get involved in the Open Category. From first-time Spartan Racers, to weekend regulars and teams, everyone is welcome. The course will push your limits, taking you out of your comfort zone, but you are under no time pressure to get ranking points or win prizes. Enjoy the experience at your own pace!
