Route information
Take on the San Jose Spartan Event Weekend, a two-day event full of tough obstacles and challenging terrain. Taking part under the warm California sun, participants will experience the hills, trails, and wide-open spaces of the Bay Area.
Each course will have a different number of obstacles. The Super 10k will have 25 obstacles, and the Sprint 5k will have 20 obstacles.

Waves of 250 runners will leave from the start line every 15 minutes.

Each course will have a different number of obstacles. The Super 10k will have 25 obstacles, and the Sprint 5k will have 20 obstacles.
Spartan

What to bring
- Your ID
- Barcode
- Towel & extra (dry) clothes
- Recommended: Headlamp and Camelback
- Spartan recommend dressing in performance gear (NOT COTTON). Think compression tights or shorts and breathable tops made from water wicking material.
- Wear comfortable shoes that you’ve trained in, but beware, they are going to get dirty.
- Consider fuel when planning for race day.
- For a Sprint distance you can normally get away with the water stations on course, but for our longer distances (Super, Beast, Ultra) we strongly suggest wearing a hydration pack and carrying energy gels or Clif bars.
FAQ's
My Junior Spartan(s) are in the Kids Race, do I need to purchase a Festival Pass for the San Jose Spartan Event Weekend?
Each Kids Race registration includes two free Festival Passes per FAMILY. If you have one child registered, you'll get two free passes. If you have two children registered, you'll still only receive two free passes. There is no need to register these spectators online ahead of time - just show up with your mini-spartans and check in with them at the Kids Race registration line.
What can I bring into the San Jose Spartan Event Weekend with me?
You'll want to check the Athlete Guide and/or Event Page for your specific event for any special guidelines on what you may/may not bring into an event. However, as a general rule, outside food and drink, coolers, and tents are not allowed. You are welcome to bring folding chairs, backpacks, etc.
Where can I see event photos for the San Jose Spartan Event Weekend?
Professional event photography will be posted on the event page approximately 5 - 7 days after the event has passed. Entrants will be emailed when photos are ready.
