Challenge yourself in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Chabot with this mixed distance trail running event. Great for novices and seasoned pros alike, there is a 5 mile, half marathon, 30km, marathon and 50km route to choose. Come along for the scenic backdrop or for the unique finisher's medal.

Our events are located in amazingly beautiful parks and recreation areas in California. We are known for our well-marked courses, accurately measured distances, immediate race results, quality shirt designs, and low-key, friendly atmosphere.

We have organized over 400 events during the past 16 years. We love trail running and we promise you a rewarding experience.

Route description

Starting at the Marina, runners take on Lake Chabot reservoir head first up through the beautiful forests and into the hills surrounding the body of water. This run offers beginners a brilliant entry into the sport, whilst maintaining a fair amount of challenge for the veteran runners out there who are looking for their next big challenge.

Course Surface:

5 mile - (Elevation 380', 16% Single Track, 12% Dirt Road, 72% Asphalt)
Half - (Elevation 1,450', 14% Single Track, 60% Dirt Road, 26% Asphalt)
30km - (Elevation 1,830', 14% Single Track, 48% Dirt Road, 38% Asphalt)
Marathon - (Elevation 2,900', 14% Single Track, 60% Dirt Road, 26% Asphalt)
50km - (Elevation 3,280', 14% Single Track, 53% Dirt Road, 33% Asphalt)

Logistics and schedule

Schedule:

7:00am - 7:45am: Bib number & Shirt Pick-Up

8:00am: 50km, 30km, marathon, half marathon starts

8:15am: 5 mile starts

Please make sure you arrive at least 45 minutes before the start to get parked, registered and sufficiently warmed up before the start of your race.

Volunteers

Volunteers are a huge part of bringing Coastal Trail Run's epic races to life. Roles vary from race-to-race but often include manning aid stations, helping at registration, or distributing those cherished finisher's medals.

In return, you will receive a 'standard' entry into a race if you help for 5 hours, $25 discount (2 hours work), or $15 discount (1 hour work).

Is there a cut-off time for the SPASM Lake Chabot races?
Yes, there will be a 7.5 hour cut-off for the marathon and 8.5 hours for the 50km event.

What are the aid stations at SPASM Lake Chabot stocked with?
Stations will have an abundance of fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, water and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drinks.

Should I still bring my own water?
Absolutely, runners are advised to bring at least 20 oz. water between aid stations. Additionally, in an effort to help the environment Coastal Trail Runs are going cupless and ask that runners bring their own water containers. There will be Hydrapak SpeedCup's on sale for $5 at check-in.
