Crawl over obstacles and through mud pits at Sun 'n Fun. Conquer over 15+ obstacles with friends for the race of your life! Our races are based around a 5k structure, so you can generally expect about 3 miles of mud, walls, ropes, monkey bars, and 15+ other examples of anything we are able to fit into the unique terrain of each venue we visit. We are consistently striving for innovation and excitement in our obstacles, so there’s always a chance you will see something brand new! From the moment you step off of that start line, until you triumphantly cross the finish, we hope you are prepared to have the time of your life among so many of your new best friends in the Terrain community. If you are looking for some killer endurance training, then you can pay for the unlimited Laps and run laps all day long! Each time you cross the finish, you will get plenty of high fives and congratulations, in addition to a special multi-lap pin. By the end of the day, you can put all of those pins on your medal’s ribbon and proudly strut through the festival area, enjoying some delicious food and a cold beer while thinking of the immensity of the accomplishment you achieved that day.

Kit List

EVERYTHING will get muddy, so make sure you don’t wear your favorite running attire.

We suggest wearing:

  • Light, quick drying running shorts and running shirt
  • Older pair of running shoes. They’ll be all muddy at the finish, and you can donate them if you wish :)
  • Socks you don’t mind throwing away (or being brown from now on)!
  • Sunglasses are nice, but make sure to hold on tight when in the mud and water.

Cameras are a blast, but make sure they’re waterproof!

Have a crazy costume? That’s fine, as long as your clothing does not put anyone (including yourself) in danger.

We recommend athletic clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, really dirty. Our pro team wears MudGear Compression Obstacle Race Socks, Icebug shoes with an awesome tread, and Xracewear apparel. Xracewear makes shorts and tops that hold your bib number so you don’t need safety pins. For those looking to crush the course, visit them for great shoes, gloves, shirts, socks and other outdoor performance apparel.

Spectators

While we strive to create an event that would be worthy of spectators enthusiastically paying to see it, we’re excited to stay that there is NO CHARGE for spectators. That’s right– Your friends and family can all come watch your moment of triumph without paying a single cent to cheer you on as you cross the finish. They’ll have a great time watching you race, but they’re also fully welcome to enjoy themselves in the festival area as well. Who knows? If they’re really nice, they might even pick up your food and have it waiting at the finish line. (But hey, you’ve got to discuss that with them. See how much they love you, ya know?)

Volunteers

Terrain Race welcomes volunteers age 16 and older. If the volunteers are below the age of 18, they MUST have an adult supervisor (parent, teacher, guardian, or club director). No volunteers under age 16 are allowed, for safety and logistics.

Everyone must sign a Volunteer Code of Conduct. If you are 16-18 years old, you must have that signed by a parent. Volunteers who will be participating in the race will need to sign a waiver- again, those under 18 will need to have this signed by a parent.

Receive $25 worth of free Terrain merchandise OR a FREE ENTRY when you have completed your ENTIRE shift!

We dedicate our races to children. We are faithful to children and families, understanding that Cool Events families are rocked by childhood cancer, terminal illnesses, childhood bullying and birth defects every day. We work with Children’s Miracle Network, Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House Charities and many other local charities, with a passion and drive to support our very own neighborhood leader Phoenix Children’s Hospital, here in our hometown of Phoenix AZ. We dedicate our races to Childhood Cancer Awareness and make sure we are working to spread the word around the nation one runner, one race at a time.
