Continuing the tradition of the Great Candy Run, The Colorado HAL Run is for families, teams, kids, elites, and well-behaved grandparents!

HAL is celebrating families and a lifetime of health that starts before birth. The Colorado HAL Run is the signature event of the Fetal Health Foundation.

How to enter the Colorado Hal Run

Colorado Hal Run route

  • Certified 5K Run/Walk Course
  • Race within a race 1 Mile team challenge
  • Team times from the 1st mile of the 5k will be compiled and averaged out. The team with the fastest team average will be awarded!
  • FREE Kids Fun Run for ages 8 & under!

Start Waves

The 5K start will be released in rolling waves, and there will be instruction on event day to help you line up in the appropriate corral.

Start Line

The 5K will start just outside the park on E Louisiana Ave. near the intersection of E. Louisiana Ave. & S. Gilpin Street.

Event Details

The Great Candy Run is an event with memorable experiences. Participants and spectators alike will enjoy the fun, fast, and sweet themed (of course) 5K course designed with walkers and runners in mind, a family festival featuring games, activity stations, amazing face painting, great refreshments, giveaways and lots of additional sweetness!

Packet Pick-up

There will be an advance packet pickup on Friday, Nov 9 and Saturday, Nov 10. Check back for full details.


- 8:30: Registration and bib pick up

- 9:40: Kids Fun Run

- 10:00: 5K Start & HAL Fest begins

- 11:00: Awards Presentation on main stage

Colorado HAL Run is only possible with your help and that of all of the amazing volunteers we've been honored to work with over the years. We may have changed names but we've been around for 15 years! We would love for you to join our volunteer team. We welcome families, groups and individuals. Together we will create great memories that we hope will last a lifetime!

We have several shifts available, most on event day, a couple for advance packet pickup days. Most shifts will be about 4 hours.

Can I bring my dog?
Sure! Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome. Keep in mind that some areas will be crowded and this can be stressful for some dogs.For safety reasons, those walking/running with a dog must start in the last corral.Medals and Cash Prizes!Cash prizes will be awarded to the first 3 Male & Female Overall Winners and the first 3 Male & Female Finishers in the stroller category.Top 3 Male & Female age group winners will be awarded medals in the following categories: 9 & Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Over.
