What is the age limit on the 1K Kids Run presented by Dayton Children's Hospital?

While there is no firm age maximum, we generally encourage children over the age of 12 to participate in the 5K or 15K.

Are walkers allowed to participate and are there time limits?

All events are walker-friendly. With a 9:00 a.m. start, the 15K course has a maximum course time of roughly 2.5 hours or until 9:35 a.m. The 5K has a 2 hour cutoff. Any runner/walker that fails to maintain the minimum pace will be asked to move onto the sidewalks to facilitate opening the roads on time. The Finish Line will officially close at 11:35 a.m.

May I use an iPod or other device for music?

iPods or other music devices are allowed but we ask that you stay safe and aware by keeping volumes at a low level in case of emergency. Rule 144.3 of USA Track and Field enables race directors to choose to allow the use of headphones by runners in non-championship races. At this time we have chosen to allow runners to be able to compete with headphones in.

Are there any age minimums?

While we have no age minimums, we encourage parents of young children to run alongside them during the event to create a safe and memorable family experience for all. Additionally, all those under the age of 18 must have a parental waiver signed.

Are baby joggers, strollers, rollerblades, dogs or bicycles allowed in any event?

Baby joggers and strollers are permitted but we ask that you start at the back of the field. Rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles or any other wheeled devices are not allowed. Further, USATF does not allow dogs on the course.

Will there be a gear check?

No, there will not. We encourage participants to securely store your gear in a locked vehicle during the event.

Does this race support any causes?

The race has partnered with Families of Addicts, a local charity working to empower those with addictions and giving support to their friends and family. The Advanced Running Project will be presenting FOA with a portion of the race proceeds at the award ceremony.

After starting the Advanced Running online running in late 2011 that now boasts 22,000+ users, the foundations of wanting to grow the running community was born. That forum coupled with Brandon’s passion for running and experience in producing world class races would lead to the creation of the Advanced Running Project. A place where runners can participate in industry leading races, purchase apparel to show off their lifestyle, run with like-minded individuals, compete as a team, and even a place where other race directors could find a resource to help them produce their own events. The Advanced Running Project has never been and will never be about a specific distance, PR, finishing position, or anything of that nature. The Advanced Running Project simply supports the relentless pursuit of personal growth through running.
