Route information
The races start and finish in Historic Downtown Truckee, and the courses will take in scenic sierra views and a taste of the mountain town. The terrain is a mix between 80% concrete and 20% dirt around Truckee's trails. There will be fully-stocked aid stations on the course.
Half Marathon
After the start, head west around Donner Lake. After 11 miles, there is a challenging climb up Northwoods Blvd, before heading downhill towards the finish on the Trout Creek Trail.
5k
This is an out and back course on the Trout Creek Trail.
Kids Run
This is an out and back course on the Trout Creek Trail. The turning point will depend on the child's age.

Parking will not be available at the main venue, although metered parking is accessible on most nearby streets.
By Air
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is approximately 40 miles from Truckee. There is a North Lake Tahoe Express shuttle from the airport to Truckee Tahoe.
By Train
The Amtrak stops in Truckee once a day heading east and once a day heading west.
By Bus
The Greyhound stops in Truckee four times a day. You can buy tickets in advance or when boarding the bus.
Amtrak buses drop off Eastbound passengers and collect Westbound passengers at Truckee three times a day.

Cut-off times
There is a cut-off time of 3 hours 30 minutes for The Half Marathon, Runners and Walkers will have to maintain a 14:50 average per mile pace to stay ahead of the course sweep. Individuals may still complete the course after the cut-off time but they will not receive officially recorded results.
Headphones
The use of headphones is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all the race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, this event is a headphone-free environment.
Roads
The roads are not closed to traffic. However, the course is on many of Truckee's trails, and there will be intermittent traffic control at crossings and intersections.

Spectators are welcome to come and support but should be aware that the roads are not closed to traffic, so they should stay safe. On the trail sections, please stay mindful of other members of the public.

The course is mixed-terrain, so please wear appropriate footwear. Road running shoes or trail shoes should be fine. You should also make sure to keep yourself hydrated and energised throughout the race.

Is there a cut-off time for the Truckee Half Marathon?
Yes, for the Half Marathon, runners must finish within a time of 3hrs30mins. This means that you must maintain an average pace of 14mins50secs per mile. You can continue running, but your result will not be recorded and there will be no on-course support.
