Grab the whole family and get outside for a morning full of fun and fitness in the Truckee Running Festival. With a 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon to choose from, as well as a number of Kid's Races, there will be an event for all runners, from novices to seasoned trailblazers.

Truckee Running Festival routes

Waddle Ranch Half Marathon

The Waddle Ranch Half Marathon will be a stunning trail route passing along dirt roads and single track, starting and finishing at the Riverview Sports Park in Truckee. The route will head into the hills of the Waddle Ranch Preserve, challenging your legs and lungs, but offering breathtaking views of Martis Valley.

Legacy 10K

The Legacy 10K heads east out and back along the Legacy Trail, following the flowing Truckee River. The route will be a paved trail, and will be relatively fast and flat.

Girls On The Run 5K

The 5K in support of Girls On The Run Sierras is a paved trail run that heads west out and back on the Legacy Trial along the Truckee River. The route will be relatively flat, and overs stellar riverside views.

Kids Races

There will be a number of kids races held on the field at Riverview Park. Bring the whole family for a great morning of fun.

Aid Stations:

    The 5K course has 1 aid station with water and electrolyte beverages
    The 10K course has 2 aid stations with water and electrolyte beverages
    Half Marathon course has 6 aid stations with water, electrolyte beverage, snacks (bars, etc.)

9:00am: Girls on the Run Warm Up
9:05am: Race Start Timed Officlal 5K
9:10am: Race Start Girls on the Run Celebratory 5K, Community Runners
9:20am: First Finisher
9:30am – 2:00pm: BBQ & Beer
10:30ish am: Kids Races Start

Gear Check:

There will be a gear check available at the event village but please leave all valuables at home.


There will be plenty of toilets at the venue


Volunteering is a great way to support your racing habit. All volunteers (17 yrs & older) earn $10/hr of racing credit that can be applied to any ASW event or Big Blue Adventure event. After you volunteer at an event, you will receive an email including your unique volunteer code. This code will allow you to apply your credits earned when you register for your next race online. Make sure to head to the Truckee Running website if you're interested in volunteering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run the Truckee Running Festival with headphones?
Yes, headphones may be worn but please note there will be other people using the park so you must be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Can I run with my dog at the Truckee Running Festival?
For safety reasons, dogs will not be allowed on the course.
Is there a cutoff time for the half marathon at the Truckee Running Festival?
No, there is no cutoff time. Participants are encouraged to take the course at their own pace. If you do plan on walking the course, please let the event organizer know on the day so they can keep track of you.
