Route information
This celebration of all things trail running takes place in Lake Tahoe, deemed by many to be one of the most beautiful areas in the US. The 100-mile race begins at the village at Northstar where runners will then climb up to Lookout Mountain, a 1700 feet climb. After this, there is a 2000 feet descent to the Western States Trail. Runners then travel to the Mount Baldy turn at 9,000 feet before finishing at the Northstar village line.
The 50k route follows the 100-mile route for 6.5 miles before runners veer off toward the perimeter trail where they will summit Mount Pluto twice at an 8500ft elevation. Runners will also travel past an aid station at Martis camp then travel down the spine of the Sawtooth Ridge. They will then travel down to an Aid Station at Fiberboard before rejoining the 100k course and traveling towards the Watson Lake aid station. They will finish the race on a decline section running towards the start-finish straight.
The 25k runners will follow the 50k route for 12 miles and summit Mount Pluto twice before descending down to the finish.
The VK event is a 3,500 climb up 3.7 miles where competitors summit Mount Pluto. There is a second climb afterward followed by a well-earned and rapid descent. A great entry-level challenge for all runners. There are no aid stations at the event.
