Route information
The Vista Verde Skyline Run is the ultimate trail race event to add to your fall running calendar.
The courses take you through a route filled with various stunning backdrops, from expansive vistas of the Pacific Coast, to wide open trails rolling through open grassy meadows, and past serene ponds and over bubbling creeks. This route is sure to distract your mind from the miles being paced underfoot.
All routes will start in the northern part of Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve, and will feature a number of big climbs that will get your legs and lungs burning, but will be rewarded with epic views.
Each route will be marked with striking colored ribbons to keep you on track and will be outlined at the prerace briefing.
There will be a number of aid stations along the route:
  • Marathon, Half and 50k runners will have a DIY water stop at the 4 mile mark.
  • Half Marathon will see full aid 10 miles into the race.
  • All distances will have a DIY water stop at Alpine Pond.
  • Marathon and 50k runners will see full aid 11.5 miles into the race.
  • Full aid again for marathon and 50k runners at 15 miles as they pass through the starting area to complete the rest of the course.
  • At the 22 mile mark, marathon and 50k runners will find more aid.
  • Full aid again for 50k at 27 miles.
Relax after you finish and refuel at the finish line party with Ramen and hot pancakes.

Parking:
Please park in the huge equestrian lot to the left of the entrance. There will be a friendly ranger and volunteer on hand to point you in the right direction. There will be a tent setup here for check-in, bib and shirt distribution. There is no cost to park.
Event day logistics
Schedule:
06:30am - 07:15am: Sign-in and bib pickup
07:15am: Briefing at the start line
07:30am: 50K start
07:40am: Marathon start
07:50am: Half Marathon start
08:00am: 10K start
Cutoff Times:
There is a 9 hour time limit for all distances. 50k runners will be turned back and must drop to the marathon distance if they fail to reach the Long Ridge Aid Station by 2:30PM, which equals 7 hours. This is the 22 mile mark and where the marathon runners turn back.

Spectator Info
Family and friends can cheer on their runners in the Mindego Hill Road parking lot off of Alpine Road and again as they pass through the starting line to complete the second half of the race. No crew or pacers needed but 50K runners can leave a drop bag at the start.

Will there be a bag drop at the Vista Verde Skyline Run?
There will only be a bag drop available for those running the 50K race. All other belongings should be locked in your car.

Will there be restrooms at the Vista Verde Skyline Run?
There is one restroom located in the main lot and another in the handicap parking area. There will also be some port-a-potties shipped in.

Unfortunately, due to park rules and safety reasons, no dogs are allowed.
