Walnut Creek Running Festival routes

All three courses are fast & flat, not only providing the perfect course for runners ranging from beginners to seasoned speed demons, but also a perfect opportunity to gift yourself with a new personal best time just in time for the holidays. The course will be a mixture of well-groomed trails and closed roads, so any kind of running shoe will work.

This is a mass start event, so if you are intending to get a fast start or are chasing that PB, please get there early to ensure you are as close to the starting line as possible.

10 Miler
The start of the 10 Miler is located in front of Civic Park and will take runners from Civic Park on the road across Ygnacio onto Civic Rd. North which becomes Oak Rd. Runners will turn and run behind Club Sport at Jones road, which will come out onto Treat Blvd. Runners will then make their way up Treat Blvd. heading east on Treat Blvd. in the outer lane. At Bancroft Road runners will turn right and head to the Iron Horse Trail where they will turn right and head south towards Heather Farms Park. 10 Mile runners will loop around Heather Farms Park via Marchbanks Road and through the Heather Farms Park Trail System before heading back out on to the Iron Horse Trail. 10 Mile runners will make their way back towards Civic Park but will remain on the trail system before taking to the downtown roads of Walnut Creek and running on to South Broadway to Rudgear Rd. before being turned around in a hairpin turn and coming back to Civic Park on South Broadway through the downtown area. Runners will finish in a new finish line area along with others and enjoy the new festival we will be hosting in the front of Civic Park.

10K
The start of the 10K is located in front of Civic Park and will take runners from Civic Park on the road North across Ygnacio onto Civic Rd. North which becomes Oak Rd. At Bancroft Road, runners will turn right and proceed 4-tenths of a mile before turning right on to the Iron Horse Trail heading West. Down the trail just under ra half mile, runners will enter Heather Farms Park just after mile 3 and will traverse Heather Farms Park in a clockwise fashion, running down N. San Carlos and Heather/Marchbanks before ultimately joining the half marathon and 13.1 relay runners around the famous duck pond, before heading out to the Canal Trail where they will turn left. At the Canal Trail/Oak Rd. Intersection runners will make their way through Walden Park where they will run through the park on the trail provided. Runners will proceed out of the park onto the dirt trail opposite the Iron Horse Trail. At Walden Road, runners will join back onto the Iron Horse Trail. Runners will pass over the Pedestrian Bridge at Ygnacio and enter Civic Park for the finish of the 10K. This course will be well marked making it easy to navigate.
