Route information
Take in the views whilst challenging yourself on the 50k run. No 2 way traffic, 98% trail mostly single track, improved spectator access on course.
Aid stations will be stocked with GU Chews, GU Energy Gels, GU Roctane Energy Gels and Roctane Energy Drink. Water, Coke, Ginger Ale, Red Bull, and a complete line of ultra foods will be available. Hot vegetable broth will be available at Auburn Lake Trails (ALT) and Goat Hill aid stations.
The official finishing time is 4:30PM for all.

Once you enter on Florian Drive, you will be instructed to follow the directions from the awesome parking crew.
- From San Francisco/Sacramento, take I-80 East to Auburn and take the Exit 49 South to Placerville 119C exit and go left at the top of the exit on to Elm Street. Turn left at signal light (El Dorado St.). El Dorado St. turns into Hwy. 49. Descend 2.5 miles, turn right and cross first bridge on the north fork of the American River. (Do not continue straight on 49 towards Foresthill) Continue on 49 South until you come to the town of Cool. The Cool Fire Station on St. Florian Court will be on your right.
- From Redding and Los Angeles, take I-5 and exit on I-80 East (to Reno), follow I-80 to Auburn. Take the Exit 49 South to Placerville 119C exit and go left at the top of the exit on to Elm Street. Turn left at signal light (El Dorado St.). El Dorado St. turns into Hwy. 49 South. Descend 2.5 miles, turn right and cross first bridge on the north fork of the American River. Spectator and Volunteer Parking
- If you arrive before 7:15am you will be directed to park on St. Florian drive. Please note you can not leave between 7:15am and 10:00am as the race course crosses St. Florian Drive at mile 8).
If you arrive after 7:15am, you will be directed to park at Holiday Market, at the corner of Highway 49 and Highway 193, and walk over to the event.
Event day logistics
- 06:00am - 07:45 Race day check in at Cool Fire Station
- 07:15am All vehicles and runners must be at the venue
- 8:00am 50k Race starts
It is advised to arrive 80 minutes beforehand, the earlier you arrive, the more premiere parking spot you will acquire. The later you arrive means a longer pre-race warm up.
Spectator Info
This event is great to view with lovely views allowing you to cheer on family and friends. Improvement has been made for spectators! Once parked up you'll be able to explore and be posted at dedicated spectator spots.

Where will I be able to see my results for the Way Too Cool 50K Trial Run?
Overall and age division results will be posted at the finish line at the Results Tent. Runner splits will be available and posted on the Way Too Cool 50K website results Sunday evening.
Will there be any post race events after the Way Too Cool 50K Trial Run?
Yes! Each runner will be able refuel with delicious food from Baja Fresh. Drinks will be available alongside a variety with Cool restaurant's located within a short walking distance from the finish line.
Is the Way Too Cool 50K Trial Run a cupless event?
Yes, All entrants will be provided with a reusable cup for the aid stations and TerraCycle bins will be located at each aid station.
