    From the organiser

Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride is a non competitive bike ride which covers a range of distances from 5 miles to 100 miles, for all the family and abilities depending on the chosen route. Many riders start outside the Queensway Tunnel in Liverpool, which offers a unique opportunity to ride approximately 2.5 miles through the Tunnel under the river Mersey, traffic free (courtesy of Merseytravel). Depending on the route chosen, riders can also start from a lively event site at the Countess of Chester Health Park.

Was really looking dad to this but...I felt it was dangerous and was glad when it was over. I'm part of a cycling club and the riding I saw was shocking!
Would not do this again and wouldn't advise anyone else to do it.

not really a race unless you want it to be and get there early. Its very relaxed family outing. Unique chance to ride through the tunnels round the wirral to chester and back.Plenty of options for different course lengths.

It’s a real shame about this event as it could really could be so much better than it is. It departs and finishes with the fun of cycling in the Mersey tunnel ! a weird but really enjoyable part of the event. The actual start was a bit of a non-event. it was a case of just turn up and get going, no race briefing, no safety checks (i`ll get onto that in a minute) just a guy on a mic trying to get the riders motivated.Upon starting it was shocking to see how many participants were allowed to take part without a helmet, or on bikes in poor condition. We saw well over a dozen cyclists without helmets in our time on the route. Also no race numbers, or numbers in the incorrect place. This should have been picked up at the start. This isnt the organisers fault but there were also a number of cyclists running red lights, cycling way too close to others, dodging in and out of traffic, bullying their way through other cyclists. My wife after 10 miles was contemplating just calling it a day and heading back to the car.She had paid over £2,000 for her carbon pride and joy and was worried that inconsiderate cyclists were putting her in danger (which they were)We stopped briefly at the 13 mile “food” stop while we used the toilet. From what I could see you had to buy your food, a first for an organised sportive. Same also at the 25 mile stop. We skipped the 38 mile and just cracked onto the finish. The finish was again a return journey under the Mersey which again was great fun but what an anti-climax the finish was…. Came out the tunnel, handed a water a medal and told to get out the way. It was just a very small patch of the road and that was it.The organisers of this event really need to look at other local sportives and take notes. Le Petite depart, Bike Chester and the Fred Whitton. See how they do it.I have done dozens of sportives over the years and this has by far the worst example of ignoring the highway code i have ever seen. Is this the organisers fault ? no it isnt but because of this and other factors i most certainly will not be back.

In its first year, the temptingly titled West Coast Fish and Chip Ride takes you from city to sea, exhibiting some of the best of Bowland en route. With one or two tough climbs to test you, and perhaps more pertinently work up an appetite, we will make sure that you are well rewarded for your efforts once you reach the coast! A tasty and well-earned portion of fish and chips right on Lytham Green awaits the riders who tackle this brand new sportive. Theres nothing quite like lunch by the sea!

Had completed another UK Cycling Events Sportive earlier in the year, and really enjoyed it so had no hesitation  in signing up for another of their (fairly local) events. The promise of fish and chips may also have swayed the decision! Husband and I both entered, and opted for the Standard (78 mile) distance.Registration was quick and easy, and no problems with toilets, etc. before setting off.The route was enjoyable, with some good long stretches without needing to stop for junctions, traffic lights, etc. Most of the climbing was in the first half, but nothing particularly challenging. The route was very well sign-posted, and we had no issues with navigation.Quality of the feed stations was brilliant. Lots of energy gels / smoothies / bars, cakes and flapjacks, drinks, but also bananas! Might sound silly, but bananas are always hugely appreciated by me as a welcome change from sugary snacks. The final feed station by Lytham windmill was where the fish and chips was served. Unfortunately for us it was very busy at this point, and with a bit further to go until the end we decided to pass on the fish and chips and carry on with the rest of the ride.Great medal at the end, finishers T-shirt, and a very nice protein shake to finish.Another great UK Cycling Events organised sportive - highly recommended!

In a word 'fabulous'. The course is stunning. It was a gloriously sunny day but even on a rainy day the sight of longridge and the forest of bowland would be lovely. We did the standard route, having never cycled 78 miles before, about 70 previous furthest. The hills in are all in the first half and none of them a really hill as such, we're used to cycling in the peak district, more undulating. Some a bit sharp but short. The feed stops were well stocked with really good flapjack and malt loaf, energy bars and other goodies. There was really friendly atmosphere. The second, third for epic, feed stop on Lytham St Annes front by the windmill was great. The fish chips were very good quality. We shared one portion as it was less than you'd get at the chippy but still a good portion considering there's still 20 miles to go. it was lovely sitting around on the grass in the sun but if in the rain the fish and chips and tea or coffee would have been a saviour, although there would have been no sitting down. The last 20 miles didn't seem too far and we enjoyed being cheered over the line and my husband and i raced to finish on the same time. Overall a great race and day out.The only reason the registration process is not 5 is just that it wasn't immediately obvious where to go and ease of navigation is four just because there one turn sign that quite a few people missed in Weeton at the turning of Mythop Rd onto the B5260, church rd, but other than that great, Gill and Damian
