Raceday Logistics

Start times will be from around 9am through to approx 3pm, and we will advise you of your start time about 7 – 10 days prior to the event date.

There’s a secure bag drop in the runners’ village, free of charge for participants. Though it is used at each participants’ own risk.

We take no responsibility or liability for anyone’s belongings left in the bag drop.

Also, although it’s in a marquee the ground can become muddy, so don’t bring your Gucci hangbags or fancy gear! They may well get muddy!

Kit List

Wear appropriate gear for the weather and conditions.

1. Spikes WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. We have obstacles that spikes can cause damage to and we don’t want to take any risks. Your shoes will be checked before you race. Note that spikes also include football boots with “studs”. If you haven’t got shoes without spikes, be prepared to run barefoot!

2. Suitable clothing. This is up to you, but we’d suggest a warm change of clothes for after the event and gloves to use during (for all those nets and ropes). You will get muddy, and so will your trainers, so don’t wear anything you are particularly precious about!

Things you’ll need to bring:

1. A print out of your ticket, a signed waiver, and photo ID. You can’t race without!

2. Cash for food and drinks on site – card payment machines out in the countryside can be temperamental. Car parking is £5 cash on the day.

There is free access to the event for all spectators, except for a £5 parking fee if driving separately. We want to encourage our Roughians to bring their friends and families to see them take on The Travelator at the finish line, and don’t feel the need to charge for it!

Our Marshals take on very important roles, guiding our runners through the obstacles and around the route, and of course providing encouragement and support all along the way!

Volunteer shifts generally run between 7am – 4/5/6pm, with details to be confirmed 1-2 weeks before the race date.

As a member of our Volunteer team, you will receive the following items as thanks helping us run this truly epic event!;

– Free Rough Runner high quality technical t-shirt
– Free lunch
– Free tea & coffee
– Free entry to a future race

Or if you’re feeling generous, you can choose to give your ticket to someone else, and let them race the event whilst you’re volunteering. Don’t worry, you still get the T-shirt and other free stuff!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Rough Runner family-friendly?
As much as it would be great to say yes in all cases, this decision is based upon the wishes of the venue. Please do ask in advance to confirm for your specific event if this is possible.
Are there showers at Rough Runner events?
Hot showers are available at most events. There is, however, a small charge that is required for use that is donated to the Stroke Association. A change of clothes and a towel is recommended to get you feeling fresh after the event.
What do I need to bring on the day?
You will need photo ID, your signed waiver and a print out of your ticket on the day. We also recommend bringing cash for parking and anything else that you think will keep you comfortable while on the course.
When do I get my wave time?
Wave times will be released in the email that you receive 7-10 days out from the event date. We do our best to make sure everyone gets their preferred wave but please don't be offended if not.
