Day 1 - Arrival into Majorca
Welcome to Majorca!
Welcome to Majorca!
Arriving into Palma de Majorca Airport you'll be picked up in the arrivals area of the airport (you won’t miss them!) and take you straight out to the charming towns on the northern coast of the island.
Majorca is quite big, but it is remarkably quick to get around and it won’t take long to reach the accommodation. Check-in with some time to relax and get your bearings after the flight.
You will all catch up and get to meet your fellow Pure Trail runners, as well as the trail guides for a briefing of the adventure that lies ahead.
Then it’s off out to explore the local town with a Mediterranean feast waiting for you later.
Day 2 - Hit the trail
(approx. 8-10 miles of trail running 480m ascent / 480m descent)
(approx. 8-10 miles of trail running 480m ascent / 480m descent)
You'll spend the day on a beautiful trail exploring the pretty inland villages of Es Capdella and Estellencs.
After breakfast, you hit the trail which starts gently running on dry undulating trails through forests and olive groves. After a while, you'll head up a steep, but very satisfying climb which tops out over an easy, wooded descent with beautiful coastal views.
Arriving into Estellencs, a sweet little village you head down along country lanes and dry stone tracks until you reach a mountain pass which connects S’Esclop (926m) and Galatzó (1,026m) mountains in full magnificence.
Day 3 - Estellencs - Esporles
(approx. 9.5 miles of trail running)
(approx. 9.5 miles of trail running)
You'll hit the trail again this morning with much of the early route travelling through oak woodland and mountain trails. The turquoise waters of the Mediterranean are within touching distance the whole time.
You'll begin a steep climb up to the Coll de Sa Basseta passing ancient homesteads which time has forgotten.
The crux of the day is navigating a very steep and rocky descent. Finally you'll reach the main road, which you'll cross and follow the undulating trail, alongside a pretty stream as we emerge into pretty Esporles.
Time to relax and soak up the day in one of the nearby cafes, before heading back to Port de Soller.
Day 4 - Valdemossa to Deia
(approx. 10-11 miles of trail running)
(approx. 10-11 miles of trail running)
One of the favourite days of the whole trail running journey.
This is a beautiful, but challenging part of the journey with a steep climb out of Valdemossa as you head towards the charming town of Deia and onward along the northwestern coast.
You'll pick up the trail which makes for comfortable running as you enter a valley with lofty peaks above you.
An old cobbled path helps us along the way as you travel down into the breath-taking village of Deia where the support vehicle will be waiting to meet you with time available to explore the village before heading back to Port de Soller.
Day 5 - Rest Day
Today you have a full rest day to relax and enjoy Port de Soller.
Take an excursion (for an additional cost) or just chill and enjoy your day off.
Day 6 - Soller to Lluc
(approx. 12-13 miles of trail running)
(approx. 12-13 miles of trail running)
Another truly rewarding stage of the route - you travel along a remote and exposed section of the trail.
After breakfast, you'll head to Soller which is a short distance away. You’ll pass a series of ancient snow-pits along the way giving you an insight into the islands rural history.
You'll travel through oak woodland and after a slow climb through the top of the treeline you emerge at the top of a mountain pass - the Coll des Prat.
The views from here are extraordinary with Puig Major (the islands highest peak) standing proud behind you. The trail then descends through old villages, with one final climb, as you head down a stone path until you see the Lluc Monastery coming into view.
If you arrive before 5 pm we’ll be able to see the famous choir school’s daily rehearsal, before heading onto our accommodation for the evening.
Day 7 - Lluc to Pollenca
(approx. 9-11 miles of trail running)
(approx. 9-11 miles of trail running)
The final day on the trail.
Much of the day is an enjoyable descent as you pick up the trail from the Lluc monastery. A familiar sight is the oak woodland which you once again travel through before picking up country lanes that route through old villages.
In the near distance, you can see the bay of Pollensa as you descend gently the whole way down.
Arriving into this old town you'll take some time to explore and enjoy a drink in the provincial square to celebrate the journey.
The transport will then be waiting to take you the short distance to the Port of Pollenca where you check into the hotel.
This evening we’ll have a slap-up celebratory meal to toast our crossing of Majorca.
Day 8 - Homeward Bound
It’s time to pack up and bid farewell to your new-found trail running friends and the local team.
