FAQs
Do I need hybrid racing experience?
No. The shorter format makes it a great first race. If you can run and train regularly, you're ready. Experienced athletes can chase a PB.
Which division and day should I pick?
Race solo in Singles, or share it in Doubles (Women's, Men's or Mixed). Saturday and Sunday run the same course, so pick the day that suits you.
Can I transfer my place, switch partner or change race?
Yes, until 10:00 on Saturday 17 July 2027 via 'Manage Booking' on Let's Do This. If your Doubles partner drops out after that, email info@by-athena.com and we'll do our best to help.
What weights will I use?
Weights and standards vary by division. Full details are in the Official Urban Race Rulebook: by-athena.com/theurbanrace/rulebook
Is there an age limit?
Yes. You must be 17 or over on race day. Please bring photo ID, as we may ask you to prove your age at registration.
Is there a bag drop?
Yes, a secure bag drop for athletes. Unfortunately, due to space restrictions spectator bags can't be stored there.
Can friends and family come to watch?
Yes. Spectators are welcome and the covered grandstand gives brilliant views. Spectator details will be released closer to race day.
What time should I arrive?
60 mins before your wave. Your wave time and final info will be emailed 1 week before race day.
Can I get a refund or defer to a future event?
Entries are non-refundable and can't be deferred, but you can add Refund Protection (Let's Do This's Refundable Registration, provided by Protect Group) at checkout. If you add it and something unexpected stops you racing, such as illness or injury, bereavement, travel disruption or severe weather, you can claim back your entry fee. Claims go directly to Protect Group with your booking reference and supporting evidence (e.g. a medical note), and their full terms apply. Refund Protection can only be added at checkout, not afterwards. Without it, you can still transfer your place to someone else instead (see above).
Can adaptive and para athletes take part?
Yes. We're an inclusive community and we adapt the race to suit the athlete. Email info@by-athena.com before race day and we'll work out the right set-up with you. The track and arena are on one level, with accessible toilets on site.
Is there a time limit?
No. There's no cut-off. We're a supportive fitness community, so take it at your own pace. Most people finish in 45 to 75 minutes. If you need to stop, tell the nearest marshal and our medical team will look after you.
Can I wear headphones?
No. For safety you need to hear marshals, announcements and other racers. The DJs have the soundtrack covered.
Can I change my wave time?
Email info@by-athena.com and we'll see what we can do.
Can I carry water or gels?
Yes, as long as you start the race with them (a handheld bottle, belt or vest). Hydration stations with water and electrolytes are in the arena.
What's my expected finish time used for?
We use it to build fair, competitive waves and manage racer flows through the day. Be honest rather than hopeful! It only affects your wave, not your result.
How is the race timed?
Every athlete wears an ankle timing chip that records each run and station. Follow live results in the By-Athena app, with official results published within 48 hours. Please return your chip at the finish: unreturned chips are charged at £35.
Are there changing rooms and showers?
There are changing areas and toilets (including accessible toilets), but no showers. Bring a towel and a change of clothes. A course map can be found on our website www.by-athena.com
