UCI World Championships Trip - Weekend 5
Ilkley, Yorkshire and the Humber, United Kingdom

One Saturday each month from March to September we are hosting a fully supported challenge ride. The routes are incredibly varied with each one having its own very distinct character to show off the wide variety of terrain and scenery in the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines.

The rides are an exclusive individual guided and supported experience similar to a sportive ride in that there is a set route, but are not timed. What you get over and above a typical sportive is a pre-ride bike check, a support vehicle and team mechanic, the benefit of riding in a small group with your own dedicated ride leader and a top caf stop. The rides are a great way of exploring new territory in the safe hands of YVT and will be of interest to local riders as well as visitors to the area. We guarantee to give you an epic day out that will stay long in your memory! If you are concerned about running out of energy on the ride, there are up to 4 spaces available in the support vehicle, so you can hop on board if necessary.

In September 2019 the worlds best cyclists will come to Yorkshire for the UCI Road World Championships, the pinnacle event in the international road cycling calendar. The Championships will include a range of mens and womens races, across age groups from junior to elite, starting in different towns and cities throughout Yorkshire and each finishing in the main competition town of Harrogate.

It will be the first time that Britain has hosted the UCI Road World Championships since 1982 and Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI.

The racing will commence on the Saturday 21st September with a ground-breaking para-cycling event running alongside the Championships which will act as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The showcase will feature every Paralympic road racing discipline and take place in front of one of the largest crowds ever assembled for an elite para-cycling event.

These UCI Road World Championships will build even further on the countys growing global reputation for the sport after hosting the grandest of Grand Departs for the 2014 Tour de France and the annual legacy race the Tour de Yorkshire which has continued to grow each year, with record breaking spectator numbers.
