Chester 5k Running Events
This well respected race, organised since its inception by Tattenhall Runners and taken over by Chester Tri in 2012, is widely regarded as one of the fastest 5k races in the region. Most local runners can claim to have set their 5k p.b at Christleton.
The Seaside race start is from near Leasowe Lighthouse, Moreton, along with the sea embankment to finish at Harrison Drive just past the Derby Pool pub and near to Wallasey Village. While most run back to the car park at the start you will need to arrange transport at the finish otherwise. It is a flat and fast course and provides a regular indicator of fitness and performance. The races are very popular with club runners and also beginners and joggers and have become a permanent fixture on the running scene of Merseyside over the last 30 years. Although there is no formal cut off time it is expected that new seasiders will aim to complete the three miles within 45 minutes.
There is plenty of variety in terrain over the route with forest tracks, footpaths and fields. It has a unique elevation (as you can see from the elevation graph). There is a total of 210metres* of elevation for the 10km* and 420metres* of elevation for the 20km*. There is an entry limit of 500 (across all races) and we expect it to fill quickly, so get in now! There will also be a children's race on the day for the budding trail runners.
Our event centre provides a great family day out for both competitors and also spectators, with food and drinks available, children's activities, race commentary all at the start / finish line located in the grounds. Spectators will have a great view of the starters and finishers. There will be toilets provided and some shelter in the registration marquee, which hopefully we won't need. But as it is Wales in March you can't be sure what the weather will do so make sure you dress for the conditions.
Due to the fact that all our events are held on private land, we are not able to provide you with course maps. As it is private land the route cannot be run before or after the race, so please don't try. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the day.
