Set within the award-winning Ribby Hall Holiday Village in Lancashire, the 2027 Ribby Hall Triathlon offers a fast, friendly, and beautifully managed multi-sport experience for athletes of all experience levels.

The event kicks off with a heated 400m indoor pool swim, allowing participants to enjoy a smooth and comfortable start without the chill or anxiety of open water. From there, athletes head into transition and out onto a sweeping 12-mile (19km) bike leg across smooth, quiet country roads around Preston and Kirkham. The race concludes with a flat 5km run through the picturesque landscaped grounds of Ribby Hall Village, bringing you home to an energetic finish line atmosphere.

Route information

The Ribby Hall Triathlon features a fast, flat, and beginner-friendly sprint format designed to give athletes a smooth and enjoyable race experience.

🏊 Swim: 400 Metres (16 Laps)

Location: The Health Club Indoor Heated Pool at Ribby Hall Village.

Format: A warm, 25-metre pool swim split into timed waves based on estimated finish times submitted during entry.

Details: Wetsuits are not required. It is an ideal environment for beginners or athletes looking to avoid the anxiety of open-water starts.

🚴 Bike: 11 Miles (17.7 Kilometres)

Terrain: Flat, smooth tarmac roads on open rural lanes.

Format: A single, fast loop through quiet Lancashire countryside passing through Wrea Green and Moss Side before returning to the resort.

Details:

The cycle course is flat with mostly left-hand turns, making it fast and navigable for athletes of all levels.

Rules of the road apply as the route remains open to traffic.

Note: The bike route includes a railway level crossing. In the rare event that the barrier closes, a marshal will record your wait time and StuWeb will deduct the delay from your total time.

🏃 Run: 5 Kilometres (3.1 Miles)

Terrain: Paved paths and off-road trail running.

Format: Out-and-back route through the private, landscaped grounds and woodland paths of the Ribby Hall estate.

Details:

The run leaves transition, takes in a short section along the Village perimeter, and joins the single-track nature trail loop.

Athletes head 2.5km out to a designated turn point before retracing their steps back to cross the finish arch right outside the main centre.

Located within the Ribby Hall village grounds close to the Health Club pool exit, allowing for smooth, clearly signposted transitions between the swim, bike, and run legs.

Car

Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 32 and take the M55 West towards Blackpool. Leave the M55 at Junction 3 towards Kirkham. Follow the A585 to the fourth roundabout, and take the 2nd exit signed Wrea Green. Ribby Hall Village is approximately 200 metres on the left.

For sat navs use PR4 2PR.

Rail

Kirkham & Wesham station is located just 1.3 miles from Ribby Hall Village. There are rail links to the Lake District and many of the UK's major cities, including Manchester, Liverpool and London. There are also direct train services to Manchester Airport.

Bus & Coach

The 61 bus service operates between Kirkham & Wesham train station and Ribby Hall Village every 30 mins Mon - Sat during the day and every hour on Sunday. The same bus can be used to travel to Preston and Blackpool during your stay.

Direct buses to Ribby Hall Village are available from Preston Bus Station, where coaches to other UK cities, including London, Glasgow and Liverpool, are also available.
