Stirling Half Marathon is a new major running event taking place in Stirling on 16th May 2027.
The event is being delivered through a partnership between Up and Running Events and London Marathon Events, bringing together extensive mass participation event experience with Up and Running’s knowledge of the Scottish running community.
The closed-road half marathon will welcome thousands of runners to Stirling, with a route showcasing the city and its surrounding landmarks. The event is being developed to establish a major annual fixture in Scotland’s running calendar, attracting participants from across Scotland and the wider UK.

Route information

Get ready to experience Stirling like never before on a 13.1-mile closed-road course showcasing the history, landmarks and scenery of one of Scotland’s most iconic cities.
The route will take runners through Stirling and its surrounding area, with some of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks providing the backdrop, including Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument.
With centuries of Scottish history around the course, runners can expect a route that brings together Stirling’s historic streets, impressive scenery and plenty of support along the way.
The final route is currently being developed, with the full course map, elevation profile, water stations and other key information to be announced closer to the event.

Getting to the Stirling Half Marathon
The Stirling Half Marathon will start from King’s Park, Stirling, close to the heart of the city.
By train
Stirling is well connected by rail, with services from across Scotland and the wider UK. Stirling railway station is in the city centre, and participants travelling by train will be able to make their way from the station to the Start Area at King’s Park on foot.
We encourage participants and spectators to use public transport wherever possible.
By bus
Stirling Bus Station is located in the city centre, with local and regional services connecting Stirling with surrounding areas. Further information on Event Day services and recommended routes to King’s Park will be provided closer to the event.
By car
Road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place around the event route on Event Day. Information on parking, recommended routes, drop-off locations and any dedicated Event Day transport arrangements will be confirmed closer to the event.
Walking and cycling
King’s Park is close to Stirling city centre and can be reached on foot or by bike. Information on recommended walking and cycling routes and cycle parking will be provided ahead of Event Day.

Please allow extra time for your journey on Event Day. Detailed travel information, including access to King’s Park, road closures, parking and public transport options, will be shared with participants before the event.

Event day logistics

Everything you need to know to help your Stirling Half Marathon Event Day run smoothly will be shared with you ahead of the event. Please read your final participant information carefully before travelling to Stirling.
Start Area
The Stirling Half Marathon will start close to King’s Park, Stirling. The Start Area will include key participant facilities and services. Please arrive in plenty of time to prepare for your race and follow signage and instructions from the Event Team.
Bag Drop
A bag drop facility will be available for participants. Runners are encouraged to bring only essential items and should allow sufficient time to drop off their bag before heading to the Start Area.
Full details, including bag size restrictions, opening and closing times and the collection process, will be confirmed ahead of Event Day.
Event Timings
Detailed Event Day timings will be confirmed closer to the event. These will include:
  • Bag drop opening time
  • Recommended arrival time
  • Start assembly and wave times
  • Race start time
  • Course cut-off time
  • Bag collection times
  • Event village closing time
Your individual start information, where applicable, will be communicated before Event Day.
Toilets
Participant toilets will be available within the Event Area. Additional facilities along the route will be confirmed as part of the final Event Day information.
Start Waves
Runners may be allocated to start waves based on their predicted finish time to help provide the best possible experience on the course. Details of the start process and assembly areas will be communicated before Event Day.
Water Stations
Water will be available at designated points along the course and at the Finish. Exact locations and details of any additional nutrition will be confirmed closer to Event Day.
Medical Support
Medical support will be available throughout the event, including at the Start and Finish and at locations along the course.
Final Event Information
Participants will receive detailed Event Day information before the race, including confirmed timings, Start Area arrangements, bag drop procedures, travel information and everything you need to prepare for race morning.
