Route information

The Balloch Castle Running Festival takes place within the beautiful surroundings of Balloch Castle Country Park on the southern shores of Loch Lomond.
The event features a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon, with all distances completed on a scenic 5K loop course. Runners will enjoy a mixture of parkland trails, woodland paths and stunning views across Loch Lomond throughout their race.
5K – Complete 1 lap of the course
10K – Complete 2 laps of the course
Half Marathon – Complete 4 laps of the course, plus an additional section to make up the full distance
The route is clearly marked throughout, with marshals positioned around the course to guide and support participants. Water will be available at the event village and aid stations will be provided for half marathon runners.
Whether you're chasing a personal best, taking on a new challenge, or simply looking to enjoy a fantastic day of running in one of Scotland's most picturesque locations, the Balloch Castle Running Festival offers something for everyone.

Balloch Castle Country Park is located in Balloch, at the southern end of Loch Lomond, and is easily accessible by car and public transport.
By Car
Balloch is approximately:
30 minutes from Glasgow City Centre
25 minutes from Glasgow Airport
1 hour from Stirling
1 hour 30 minutes from Edinburgh
Parking is available in and around Balloch, including public car parks within walking distance of the Event Village. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to allow sufficient time for parking and registration.
By Train
Balloch Railway Station is served by regular services from Glasgow Queen Street and is located approximately 15–20 minutes' walk from Balloch Castle Country Park.
By Bus
A number of local and regional bus services operate to Balloch from Glasgow and surrounding areas. Please check local timetables before travelling.
Cycling & Walking
Participants and spectators are encouraged to travel actively where possible. Balloch is connected to a number of walking and cycling routes, including paths around Loch Lomond and the National Park.

Event day logistics

Race Day Logistics
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable race day experience, please read the information below before attending.
Registration & Number Collection
Race numbers can be collected from the Event Village on race morning.
Please arrive at least 45–60 minutes before your race start time to allow plenty of time for registration and parking.
Your race number must be worn on the front of your vest or top and be visible at all times.
Start & Finish Area
All races start and finish within Balloch Castle Country Park.
Please listen carefully to race briefings and marshal instructions.
Participants should make their way to the start area at least 10 minutes before their scheduled start time.
Course Support
The course will be fully marked and marshalled.
Water stations will be available on the route and within the Event Village.
Medical support will be available throughout the event.
Facilities
Toilets will be available within the Event Village.
A bag drop facility will be available for participants.
Spectators are welcome and can enjoy several viewing points around the course.
Results & Awards
All participants will receive a finisher's medal upon completing their event.
Results will be available online shortly after the race.
Prize information (where applicable) will be announced before race day.
Important Information
Please respect other park users, volunteers, marshals and fellow runners at all times.
Headphones are permitted, but participants should remain aware of their surroundings and be able to hear marshal instructions.
The event will take place in almost all weather conditions unless participant safety is compromised.
