Route description
Route description

The Cybi Coastal will be partially way-marked and will follow the paths, tracks, beaches and coastline of the Welsh national/Anglesey Coastal Path. The entire route passes through magnificent coastline scenery with fine views of wide bays, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, the famous South Stack lighthouse and the summit of Holyhead Mountain.

Starting in the port town of Holyhead this race takes you on a variety of surfaces. Easy going paved paths, a small amount of road sections, sandy beaches, fields and single tracks. Tricky cliff tops and with a few good hill climbs and to top it all off a short sharp climb to the top of Holyhead Mountain and back down to sea level. Depending on the weather, this course can be very muddy and trail shoes are highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning event! Organisation, course and marshalls are second to none. This deserves to become an iconic event as it gives Anglesey a marathon to be proud of. I'll be back again next year for my third outing. Its not a PB course, its challenging but sublime!

Utterly brutal (where else can you climb a mountain in the last 6 miles?), incredible scenery, great marshalls and well stocked check points.

Down to earth no frills event with a great environmental ethos. The team couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome, and all done for a great charity. The course if stunning even with the mountain in the last few miles. its the little touches like the hose pipe shower on the finish line that make this so special.

Did the first and now the second. Looking forward to the third. Great scenery and support around the course. What I call a 'proper' run as it covers terrain you won't get on a boring road marathon.

Having run this race in both 2018 and 2019, it is a wonderfully friendly race, with stunning scenery. It is carefully organised with core environmental values and raises awareness of critical local businesses and organisations. The course offers challenging trails and elevation, but once conquered is a wonderful confidence boost! Although a tough challenge, it is a friendly race, welcoming to runners of all abilities. However, this is not to say the challenge should be underestimated: the climb and descent in the last few miles will grip you, making this both a tough mental and physical challenge to relish. Can’t wait to sign up again, fingers crossed I’m quick enough to respond to entries opening for 2020!

This event is very well organised and set on the beautiful island of Holyhead. The course takes you around the stunning coastline which is rugged and extremely challenging in parts with the final 4 miles having you summit and descend Holyhead mountain.
I can honestly say I have not seen so many broken people cross the finish line at any other race but all with an overwhelming sense of achievement receiving the very unique finishers medal.
I would highly recommend this race to anyone who wants to take on a real challenge of a marathon.
Well done to all the Cybi team and volunteers and I shall definitely be seeing you all again in the future.
Gorgeous views, challenging course, great check points/food stations, organisers friendly and encouraging, soup, bread and tea at the end - perfect!. Advise to park nearer the event start than we did a mile away! There's actually loads of parking nearby. Really enjoyed my first marathon.

This must be one of the most scenic marathons around. It was well organised, good value for money with well stocked check points. The route was very challenging but should be on every trail runner’s bucket list. It’s also for a good cause!

Quite simply one of the most beautiful marathon courses this world has to offer: absolutely stunning all the way around.
The marshals and staff were such lovely, down to earth yet professional people and there were so many nice families on the route wishing you well which is very much appreciated on such a challenging course. Still cannot get over the experience. Absolutely breathtaking in every way. Thank you CCM and all the volunteers, Life Boats and mountain rescue staff etc. Your selflessness is what makes this event even more special.

Brilliant race. Tough but worth it. The views are stunning. My only advice would be to carry your own water, the bit between the last water station and the end takes longer than you think!

Hands down the best low key marathon with a course, views and terrain which come second to none! This race is challenging but offers an amazing experience! The event organisers and crew offer support advice and clear instruction. This race is all about providing a challenging yet beautiful course which will inspire and motivate any runner! In a world where running has sadly become
Corporate and money driven, this event keeps it real and retains all the core values of running! This is a bucket list for any marathon runner!

An absolutely fantastic event. From booking the race in March, Jason and the team gave regular updates on the Facebook page of remaining places, giving the opportunity to swap with someone on the waiting list up to two weeks before. Being a non profit race with precedes going to the RNLI, it was very obvious the passion behind it was to support this great cause, along with a love of running. The race staff were so supportive at all the checkpoints, filling your bottles for you and offering snacks and isotonic drinks along the route with uplifting words of encouragement. It was a very challenging course but stunning. I can see this becoming one of the must do races in the UK. Thank you.

This was a fantastic run along some of the prettiest coast lines. Well organised. The only thing I would say is it could do with a few extra stewards in certain places but that can easily be amended! Brilliant day with friendly faces and amazing supporters xx

Came from Glasgow with friends to do our first marathon. Spectacular course and organisation. The promise of amazing views on some technical trails was well worth the drive.

My second Cybi marathon and it was as good as the first. The course is full of stunning scenery which follows the coastal path around the island but be warned the last section is tough so prepare yourself. All the staff were fantastic and it's great to know the money goes to charity.

We've run this race both years since its conception in 2018. A tough and Challenging course that showcases Cybi Island at it's best. The event team work tirelessly, it's a non profit race with proceeds going to local RNLI stations. Definitely our favourite race on our calendar!!

Well have have ran the first 2 years it was our first trail marathon last year and decided it was such a good event we returned last year and will be next year. The event is amazingly organized and very well ran. The route is incredible even with a small mountain to tackle at the end. The trophy this year was a gorgeous wooden plaque made from local driftwood. The organizers are always happy to help and the volunteers are some of the nicest IV encountered at races.
