- Tristar 2: ages 11 - 12
- Tristar 3: ages 13 - 14
- Youth: ages 15 - 16
Your age group is determined by your age at the end of the calendar year (ie. age on 31st December 2024).
Draft-Legal Kit
For draft-legal racing, you will need a roadworthy bicycle with traditional drop-style handlebars and brake levers. Importantly, you are not allowed to use time trial bikes or any form of clip-on aero bars. Wheels must have a minimum of 12 spokes, and therefore disc wheels are not allowed. A well-fitted helmet must be worn and fastened at all times during the bike leg.
Sustainability and Race Mementos
TriWorks is conscious of the environmental impact of their event and want to be part of the solution and not the problem. For this reason, they are only providing race T-shirts and finisher’s medals to those who would like them.
Triathlon Scotland Membership
In order to ensure you have adequate third-party insurance for the race, you will need a valid race licence. If you have Core or Ultimate membership of Triathlon Scotland (or Welsh Triathlon or Triathlon England), then this provides you with a race licence. You will be required to provide a physical or digital copy of your race licence at registration along with a photographic ID.
If you don't have a race licence you can purchase a British Triathlon Race Pass as part of your entry.
Race Belts
You will be provided with a race number at registration. This needs to be displayed to the front during the run sections and to the back during the cycle section. The easiest way to do this is with an elasticated race belt around your waist. You can either choose to provide your own race belt or purchase a Zone3 race belt alongside your entry.
FAQs
What are the rules of draft-legal racing for the East Fortune Duathlon?
The majority of normal duathlon rules remain the same. The main differences relate to the type of bike you are allowed to ride, with aero bars and disc wheels not allowed. Importantly, you are also not allowed to draft off athletes of another gender or athletes on a different lap. We would recommend that you familiarise yourself with the British Triathlon Competition Rules.
Will there be medals at the East Fortune Duathlon?
In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of racing, there will only be wooden finisher's medals for those who request one when checking out. They are available at no extra cost. If you decide not to take a medal we will donate the cost to our charity partner.
What are the age requirements for the East Fortune Duathlon?
You must be aged 17 or over to participate in the Draft Legal and Non-Drafting events. Entrants aged between 9 and 16 can enter the relevant TriStar race or the Youth event.
