Featuring fully closed-road courses for both distances, the event offers smooth, uninterrupted running through Anglesey’s rural countryside, with sweeping views of Eryri (Snowdonia) throughout the routes. With parking, race village and finish line all located on site, runners can enjoy simple, stress-free logistics alongside an inspiring course that suits first-timers, seasoned racers and PB-chasers alike. A true celebration of running, scenery and community in one of North Wales’ most beautiful settings.

Route information

The Jones o Gymru Anglesey Island Race offers Half Marathon and 10K distances on fully closed roads, starting and finishing at the Anglesey Showground. Both routes showcase the quiet rural beauty of the island, with rolling country lanes, open farmland and expansive views towards Eryri (Snowdonia).This is a traffic-free course, giving runners plenty of space to settle into a rhythm and enjoy uninterrupted running in a relaxed, scenic setting.

Half Marathon

The Half Marathon heads out from the Showground onto wide roads before joining a network of peaceful country lanes through the heart of Anglesey. The route features gentle undulations rather than steep climbs, making it suitable for first-timers while still offering a rewarding profile for experienced runners.

Expect long stretches of open countryside, traditional hedgerows, historic field patterns and panoramic mountain views. In the later stages, the course returns via a more open section of road with views across Llyn Cefni, before a motivating run back to the Showground finish.

10K

The 10K follows the opening section of the Half Marathon before taking a shorter loop through the same scenic rural landscape. Runners will enjoy quiet lanes, wide skies and distant views of Eryri, with a gently rolling profile that is ideal for a fast time or a first 10K experience.The final kilometres mirror the Half Marathon return, offering a strong, well-supported finish at the Showground.
