Route information
It’s a picturesque setting, but the course has real ‘bite’ with some serious climbing in the first 6 miles for both half and full marathon courses. The paths are grassy and not technical or rocky underfoot, but you’ll be working hard to summit ‘Winder’, ‘Arant Haw’, ‘Calder’ and eventually ‘The Calf’. The half marathon route heads East and descents Cautley Spout waterfall, whilst the marathon continues to the half way stop at Ravenstonedale. Both courses return along the Eastern edge of the Howgills, before a real ‘sting in the tail’ in the final miles. It’s stunning, quiet and scenic, but not for the faint hearted.
